US Signal also helps customers optimize their IT resources through the provision of managed services and professional services.


We are seeking an experienced OSP Engineer/Construction to support large-scale fiber optic infrastructure projects, particularly middle-mile builds and multi-million-dollar bids. This critical role involves developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex outside plant (OSP) deployments. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of fiber construction, permitting, and industry pricing, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze engineering designs, conduct site assessments, prepare bid packages, and support contract negotiations. Responsibilities include estimating costs for underground fiber work, validating assumptions with internal teams, maintaining pricing databases, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and leveraging historical data to improve forecasting accuracy.


What you'll do:

  • Assist in maintaining all records associated with US Signal OSP fiber assets.
  • Ongoing data integrity auditing which may include field audits.
  • Provide design assistance for the installation and maintenance of the fiber optic network.
  • Project manage assigned project load including new construction, network maintenance and relocation projects.
  • Assist in easement and right of way negotiations with property owners.
  • Assist in managing city, state, and local government permitting requests.
  • Perform site walks and field surveys for fiber build projects.
  • Review construction prints for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare proportionate share billing summaries to finance for IRU partners on maintenance and relocation projects.
  • Prepare and process third party splicing requests from and to IRU partners.
  • Rotating 1 in 2 on-call responsibility.
  • Provide support to sales through preparation of maps and fiber deployment plans.
  • Process ICB requests and provide soft quotes to sales for OSP portion of the solution.
  • Perform fiber characterization analysis.
  • Work closely with outside plant contractors to ensure project parameters are met
  • Assist TOC when additional troubleshooting requested from OSP Engineering department

Requirements

What you bring to the team:

  • Experience with middle-mile and long-haul fiber builds strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of permitting workflows and timelines strongly preferred
  • Ability to interpret and apply local regulations related to telecom infrastructure strongly preferred
  • Understanding of OSP construction principles including underground and aerial construction
  • Understanding of OSP records documentation
  • Ability to operate US Signal company vehicle
  • Ability to utilize ladders and walk unstable terrain while performing site walks/audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrated successful experience escalating with vendors and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Experience:

  • 3+ years' experience with OSP and project management a plus. Familiarity or experience with the US Signal network is a plus. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products including 365, Outlook, Excel, Word, and Visio. Experience with OSPinsight and Google Earth a plus.

Education:

  • Formal training and education involving civil engineering, OSP engineering, fiber construction and splicing is a plus.

Required License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position may be performed in either a standard office setting or a home office environment. It requires prolonged periods of sitting, frequent use of a computer and other office equipment, and effective time management in a self-directed work environment. The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000 yearly depending on location, skills, experience, and other job-related factors. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity.ย
