We are presently looking for a State Organizing Coordinator, North Carolina and Georgia. This person will drive impact for Cardinal & Pine and Courier Georgia by serving as a key point of contact for external affairs, producing impact-oriented content, and providing operational support to their newsrooms' journalists, analyzing and sharing editorial data.

Reporting to the Director of Product Growth and Partnerships, this role involves executing the coalition of weekly reporting and systems that help the state teams operate efficiently and set newsletter and social strategy teams up for success. They will leverage content to build community and steward strategic in-state partnerships that support content, distribution, membership programs, events, and potential product monetization.

Responsibilities 

  • Produce web and social media content with an emphasis on mission-aligned action opportunities for our audiences
  • Develop the state partnership strategy to identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with mission-aligned organizations, businesses, community groups, and political stakeholders to increase growth and engagement of state newsroom brand and products
  • Serve as a bridge builder and connector between products and the communities they are seeking to serve through relationship development + strategic opportunities for collaboration, ambassador-building, events and monetization
  • Maintain external relationships for the good of state products + talent development
  • Provide support for + create opportunities for reporters to interact with their audiences through virtual and IRL events
  • Ensure cohesive reports at the state level so management can see state level success across the state-level departments (political, community, social, etc.)
  • Be a flexible team player for special project needs and cross-functional success across their states + HQ needs
  • Manage interns as needed

The ideal candidate will have some of the following:

  • A deep understanding of Georgia and/or North Carolina culture + political ecosystem
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to grow networks from cold call to strong working relationships
  • Comfort in public speaking roles and grassroots event interactions
  • Strong communication skills
  • An understanding of event logistics and planning
  • Ability to work cross-functionally 
  • Experience building relationships that can help provide key political, cultural, and audience-focused insights
  • Comfort with basic project management software, Google Drive, and Canva
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and comfort in a fast-paced start-up culture
  • Motivation to test and learn professionally
  • Organizational skills and ability to use project management programs and build clear and concise reporting
  • Experience with basic content analytics, such as Google Analytics or social media performance
