Description

Boulder Imaging is seeking an Application Engineer to contribute to the service and maintenance of our cutting-edge machine vision IdentiFlight technology. The primary responsibility to maintain a fleet of systems to ensure they perform for our customers. This will include reacting to issues identified by the monitoring team and correct faults in the system. It will also require proactive investigation of the systems for less obvious faults that may manifest as performance issues and correct or escalate to the Senior Application Engineer. Specific actions will involve (remote) optical calibration, electrical diagnostics, network system debug and root cause analysis. This is a customer-facing role and will require effective communication and empathy as these systems are used to protect wind turbines, a significant source of revenue for the customer.

  • Monitor IdentiFlight systems for performance and system alerts
  • Perform remote calibration, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics of systems
  • Analyze and track potential performance concerns and prioritize multiple ongoing issuesย 
  • Identify root cause of issues impacting performance

Additionally, you will be required to guide customers and field technicians through field diagnostics or repair of systems. This will require discipline to ensure prescribed steps are followed both to ensure effectiveness and safety.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience in computer vision and/or wind energyย 
  • Knowledge and understanding of system engineering process, designs & control systems
  • Prior support or design experience of complex software and hardware base systems
  • Experience with IT infrastructure design and networking
  • Solid mathematical foundation
  • Comfortable in dealing with complex, abstract, or vague problems
  • Prior experience in data visualization
  • Experience in scalable network

Desired Education and Work Experience

  • Ideally 1-3 years of experience in working with support technology solutions
  • Field experience or hands-on practice or knowledge of multi-disciplinary system design and development
  • University degree in engineering, computer science or related field
