About the Role
DataField is seeking a Network Engineer III to support the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing operation of complex transport and data networking environments. This is a senior-level engineering role ideal for someone with strong experience in optical transport, routing, switching, and network architecture who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and leading projects from planning through deployment.
You'll work closely with engineering, operations, and vendor teams to build and maintain high-availability network infrastructure supporting critical business and customer services.
What You'll Do
  • Maintenance Window work and shift work is REQUIRED in this role.
  • Participate in network planning, architecture design, and engineering initiatives
  • Design and implement DWDM, optical transport, routing, switching, and Ethernet network solutions
  • Develop and execute approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for network changes and deployments
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues involving TCP/IP, optical transport, routing, and switching technologies
  • Evaluate new hardware, software, and network technologies for operational and strategic use
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and implementation guides
  • Provide Tier III / escalation support to operations teams and third-party vendors
  • Lead or contribute to multiple concurrent network projects while managing timelines and priorities
  • Collaborate across engineering, operations, and project management teams to deliver reliable network solutions

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional network engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and Ethernet technologies
  • Experience with optical transport networks and carrier-grade infrastructure
  • Ability to design and support complex network topologies and configurations
  • Experience using ticketing systems, monitoring platforms, and network management tools
  • Proficiency with network documentation tools such as Microsoft Visio
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent practical experience
