A Remote Operator monitors and controls systems, equipment, or processes from a remote location, often using specialized software or communication tools. They may work in industries like manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation, or customer support. Responsibilities typically include troubleshooting issues, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining safety standards. Strong technical skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a remote operator and how do they interact with on-site teams?

Remote Operators are responsible for continuously monitoring equipment, systems, or processes through specialized software, responding to alarms, and making operational adjustments as necessary. They often document performance data, generate reports, and troubleshoot issues using remote access tools or by relaying information to field personnel. These competencies ensure that Remote Operators can safely and efficiently monitor, control, or troubleshoot systems from a distance, often in high-stakes environments.

How do you become a remote operator?

To become a remote operator, you typically need relevant technical skills, such as experience with specific equipment or software, and often require a high school diploma or equivalent. Many roles also value certifications or training related to the equipment or systems you'll be managing. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are important for success in remote operations.

Job description

RC Mowers | We're Hiring

Regional Sales Manager – Northeast

Full-Time | Field-Based | Northeast US Territory | 75% Travel

RC Mowers builds remote-controlled mowing equipment for slopes, ditches, and terrain that's too dangerous to mow with an operator on board. Municipalities, contractors, and dealers across North America run our machines because they work, and because we stand behind them.

We're hiring a Regional Sales Manager to take over an existing Northeast territory and grow the business. This isn't a start-from-zero territory build. It's an established base of dealers and customers that needs someone who can coach it, expand it, and push it hard.

THE JOB

You're not a vendor rep who shows up to take an order. Dealers and their sales teams treat you like a business advisor — someone who helps them sell more, run their floor better, and make more money by carrying RC Mowers. You're comfortable in front of a dealership owner, and just as comfortable on the floor coaching their sales staff through a demo.

You'll prospect new dealers relentlessly, and you'll be credible enough with dealership owners that they take the meeting. You'll show them why becoming an RC Mowers dealer makes their business more profitable — then you'll help them actually sell it.

You report to the Vice President of Sales.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Run our sales process on every deal — uncover the real need, confirm you're talking to the decision maker, and get a decision date
  • Live in the CRM — document every conversation, every opportunity, every next step
  • Act as advisor and coach to your dealers, and hold quarterly business reviews with dealer management
  • Work from a business plan you update every quarter and use to drive your weekly priorities
  • Run product demonstrations that turn prospects into believers
  • Prospect new dealers consistently — you don't wait for the territory to come to you
  • Represent RC Mowers at regional and national trade shows
  • Maximize territory revenue working alongside dealer reps and independently

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Experience selling equipment through a dealer network
  • A track record of success selling equipment or related products in a competitive market
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • A valid driver's license — you'll be on the road 75% of the time

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience coaching or training dealer sales teams, not just selling to them
  • A history of winning new dealers through consistent, self-generated prospecting
  • Comfort with CRM discipline — you already work this way, it's not a new habit to build

ABOUT THE TEAM

You'll report to the Vice President of Sales and work alongside other Regional Sales Managers covering their own territories across the country. There's no red tape between you and a decision — if a dealer needs something to close, you get an answer fast.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

A desk job. A territory where you inherit relationships and coast. A role where someone else does the prospecting for you. If you're complacent about your own selling skills, this isn't it — we expect you to keep getting better as a salesperson, a product expert, and a coach, and we'll invest in helping you do it.

HOW TO STAND OUT

Tell us about a territory or account base you grew. We want to know:

  • What did the territory look like when you took it over?
  • What did you actually do to grow it?
  • How did you win a dealer or account that didn't want to hear from you at first?
  • What does the territory look like now?

ABOUT RC MOWERS

We design and build autonomous and remote-operated mowing equipment for difficult environments — a growing, profitable company shipping to municipalities, DOTs, and commercial contractors across North America.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary plus incentive. On-target earnings of $150,000+. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation and sick leave, and disability, life, and accident insurance. Company vehicles are provided for travel.

Hiring is subject to a pre-employment background check and drug screening. RC Mowers provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
