What is a remote operations manager?

A Remote Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating business operations from a remote location rather than a traditional office setting. This role typically involves managing teams, workflows, and processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and alignment with company goals, all while leveraging digital tools and communication platforms. Remote Operations Managers must be skilled in virtual leadership, project management, and problem-solving to effectively support distributed teams. Their duties often include monitoring key performance indicators, implementing process improvements, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations despite geographical distances.

What does a remote operations manager do?

The job duties of a remote operations manager involve managing a production process or the provision of a service. As a remote operations manager, you work from home to monitor business operations, plan a budget, and come up with strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and profits. Some of your job responsibilities vary depending on the industry in which you work. In fields such as production, you oversee quality assurance (QA) operations. In all positions, you coordinate with employees and departments and run meetings virtually. Some jobs require you to visit work or production sites occasionally.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote operations manager, and why are they important?

To succeed as a Remote Operations Manager, you need strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills, usually supported by a relevant degree and operations experience. Familiarity with remote collaboration tools like Slack, Asana, and Zoom, as well as knowledge of workflow management systems, is essential. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and a high degree of self-motivation help you effectively lead distributed teams. These competencies are critical for ensuring operational efficiency, team alignment, and successful delivery of business objectives in a remote environment.

How do remote operations managers effectively oversee distributed teams and ensure smooth workflow?

Remote Operations Managers typically rely on digital collaboration tools and clear communication protocols to coordinate team activities across different locations. They schedule regular virtual check-ins, set clear expectations, and monitor progress using project management software. Building trust and fostering engagement are crucial, as is being proactive in addressing time zone differences and potential communication barriers. This role often requires adaptability and strong problem-solving skills to maintain team cohesion and operational efficiency in a remote environment.

Job description

Noom is on a mission to help people live better, longer. We're a consumer-led digital health company, connecting people to content, coaching, community, and clinicians, to build lasting habits and live healthier lives. We're a high-growth organization powered by science, technology, and world-class talent. When you join Noom, on any team, whether fully remote or in one of our offices, you'll see the impact of your work on the world.

Our Pharmacy Operations Team
Our Pharmacy Ops team is at the heart of Noom's ability to deliver medically sound, scalable health programs. We sit at the intersection of clinical excellence and operational innovation, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Clinical teams to provide our community with high-quality products, efficiently and at scale.

About the Role

We're looking for a Fulfillment Operations Manager to own the pharmacy and supply chain logistics that keep Noom's medication and product fulfillment running smoothly. You'll manage vendor relationships across pharmacy and 3PL partners, oversee inventory and procurement, and ensure GLP-1 kits, diagnostic tools, supplements, and future products are delivered reliably and cost-effectively. You'll also serve as a key point of coordination between patients, Care Coordinators, and pharmacy partners-resolving order issues and streamlining the systems that support them. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where strategic planning meets day-to-day execution.

You Will

  • Manage fulfillment performance across pharmacy and 3PL partners, ensuring SLA adherence and resolving issues quickly
  • Oversee the medication order ticketing system, resolving shipment delays, lost or damaged packages, address updates, and replacement orders
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, Care Coordinators, and pharmacy representatives, ensuring seamless communication and support across departments
  • Maintain accurate, SKU-level inventory visibility across locations and support end-of-month reconciliation
  • Forecast demand, manage replenishment cycles, and coordinate inventory transfers to meet order volume
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends and improve inventory and fulfillment strategy
  • Support new launches by collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Clinical Ops to ensure operational readiness
  • Manage Help Desk tickets via a ticketing system, following up with Care Coordinators to ensure timely resolution
  • Help evaluate and implement tools such as an Inventory Management System (IMS) or ERP-lite solution
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve operational efficiency as Noom Med continues to grow and diversify its offerings

About You

If you're energized by building scalable systems that bridge healthcare fulfillment with operational excellence, this role is for you.

You Have

  • Bachelor's degree a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 4+ years of experience in mature supply chain, procurement, fulfillment, or pharmacy/healthcare operations-ideally in CPG, DTC health, telemedicine, or fast-scaling eCommerce
  • Proven ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends
  • Comfortable with technology and digital healthcare platforms, with proficiency in pharmacy, supply chain, or inventory management systems
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and a thorough understanding of HIPAA
  • Strong self-starter mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively engage medical professionals, pharmacy representatives, and patients
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Bonus: experience with regulated products (e.g., supplements or pharmaceuticals), including work with vendors, compounding pharmacies, or other healthcare operations handling them.

What Makes This Job Amazing

  • You'll help millions of people lead healthier lives every day
  • You'll architect the supply chain and pharmacy fulfillment systems supporting Noom Med's next stage of growth
  • You'll collaborate with product, clinical, and operations teams to support innovation at scale
  • You'll join a transparent, high-performing, close-knit team with real opportunity for advancement

What You'll Earn and Enjoy

  • Pay that reflects your impact. Compensation benchmarked to the market and shaped by your impact and value.
  • Investment in your future. A 401(k) with company match to help you build long-term financial security.
  • Time to truly recharge. Paid holidays, generous time off, Summer Fridays, and a company-wide Summer Break week so the whole team can unplug together.
  • Care that covers it all. Access to top-tier medical plans for you and your family, including a premium-free plan option, alongside dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Support for growing families. Paid parental leave to give you the time and flexibility to focus on what matters most.
  • And more to help you thrive. Stock awards, a performance-based bonus, and exclusive access to Noom's products, so you can grow with us, win with us, and enjoy what we build.

The base salary range for this position is $97,500 - $127,500. Actual compensation is determined by job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role is eligible for our NYC or Princeton office locations, operating on a hybrid schedule (2 days per week on-site).
