Harris Exploration, a division of Earth Drilling, is a trusted source for drilling and installation services in California, Nevada and Arizona with certifications recognized by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association.  We specialize in a variety of drilling solutions, from mineral exploration to water well recovery and geotechnical engineering.  Our team of professionals use cutting-edge dual tube RC technology, wireline core methods and more for obtaining soil and rock samples with precision accuracy.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Operations Director, the Operations Manager is a key member of the Company’s lean leadership team.
  • The Operations Manager will manage a team of Field Supervisors and will help oversee the successful completion of drilling projects across the United States. The incumbent will manage the day to day drilling operations, assisting in the achievement of key performance targets, through operational excellence, cost management, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. 
  • Oversee field equipment maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance planning, coordination of repairs, and follow-up on equipment issues to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient project execution. 
  • Support workforce planning with coordinating crew assignments, scheduling, and labor allocation to meet project demands across multiple job sites.
  • The Operations Manager will work closely with the HSE Manager to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Support the Operations Director in unifying, connecting, and aligning field operations with corporate standards, values, and expectations, including: 
    • Maintaining open communication 
    • Anticipating and preventing issues and/or conflicts  
    • Resolving issues and/or conflicts 
    • Championing corporate direction at the site level 
    • Escalating site concerns and needs to leadership  
  • Help maintain a positive, comfortable, and respectful culture among employees that is based on trust and respect. 
  • Support the implementation and management of continuous improvement programs.
  • Help execute strategies and tactics from the company’s senior leadership team. 
  • Collaborate with clients, sub-contractors, and colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of projects. The Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating between operational teams to get projects completed within required timelines while ensuring all field level documentation is captured on time.
  • Travel between job sites to follow-up and ensure that project timelines are maintained according to client expectations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and training to team members on various aspects in the field.
  • Other duties as required.


Job Requirements:

  • Relevant post-secondary experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of Supervisory experience is required.
  • 5+ years of drilling experience is required.
  • MSHA safety certification is required.
  • Valid driver’s license (personal and CDL) is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to comply with Health and Safety Management Systems and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site.
  • Strong problem-solving and initiative skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, influencing skills to build strong relationships, and network effectively with all levels of the organization and with external clients and partners.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility plans and general contracts.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to complete detailed daily reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.  
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and results-oriented.  
  • Resilient, able to handle ambiguity, and enjoys the challenges and rewards of working for a start-up; prior experience in a start-up environment is an asset.
