Reporting directly to the PNW Region Manager, the Operations Analyst is a role centered on project management and client reporting.  Key areas of focus include planning, budgeting, and operational and financial reporting.  A strong commitment to fostering positive relationships, enhancing processes, and promoting transparent communication is essential.

AFM’s team of professionals is focused on meeting client needs by providing a complete range of forestry services including land and wildlife management, land sale and acquisition services, forest inventory and design, growth and yield modeling, cash flow projections, environmental and farmland services, appraisal, forest resource data management and harvest scheduling.

Broad Responsibilities of the Position 

  • Assist with collecting and organizing information to meet critical reporting deadlines outlined in contractual agreements.  Facilitate timely preparation and distribution of periodic client reports, monthly activity reports, financial statements, budgets, and any additional special reports as needed or requested by the operations management team.    
  • Coordinate and facilitate the achievement of essential planning project deadlines.  This includes annual long-term management plans, harvest schedules, as well as annual harvesting and merchandizing plans.  
  • Coordinate, facilitate and promote transparency and communication between AFM accounting, technical services, and operations. 
  • Coordinate, facilitate and promote internal information sharing, improvement of data and business systems, and support implementation of solutions. 
  • Development of forest operations and financial data into client reports
  • Developing and managing analytical tools to support forest operations, reporting, and processes to guide business decisions
  • Development of annual property budgets from harvest schedules and forest planning platforms
  • Synthesize report level data from AFM's Forest Management System, INFLOR, for Pacific Northwest and Intermountain Region client data.
  • Support Inventory and carbon reporting to clients

 

Ideal Qualifications 

  • Proficient in project management and problem-solving to achieve timely completion of deliverables. 
  • Capable of collaborating with various AFM departments, taking on the role as both a team leader and team member for projects and tasks in the West. 
  • Strong MS Office proficiency especially Excel – comfortable with structured data, formulas, and templates
  • Demonstrated experience with Power BI and Dashboards
  • Working knowledge of Esri ArcGIS products as well as an understanding of centralized GIS data management concepts and architecture.
  • Working knowledge of relational database management systems; SQL, Postgres, Access, etc. and programming languages (Python, R) a plus.
  • Knowledge of forest management operations, forest inventory, growth and yield modeling, harvest scheduling, FPS/FVS a plus
  • Knowledge of forestry principals, GIS, economics, and natural resource management
  • Capable of working independently while efficiently prioritizing tasks, exhibiting a keen attention to detail and precision. 
  • Excellent time management and organization skills to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities and demands.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills in working with both internal stakeholders and external customers are essential for this position.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and creatively find solutions.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding sensitive customer and internal corporate information. 

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in forestry, forest management or a related field. 
  • Prefer candidate to have experience in systems development as well as exposure to forest management/operations with specific experience in production reporting and processes. 
  • Demonstrated skills in managing projects effectively.

Work Environment:

This role is office based and can be remote based.  The ideal location of the successful candidate is Western Washington, with flexibility to the greater Pacific Northwest Region (Oregon, Washington).

Salary and Benefits:

  • Expected salary range: $75,000 - $105,00 commensurate with experience.
