Overview
Deriva Energy, a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable U.S., who is a nationwide leader in sustainable energy provides wind, solar, resilient backup power, and managed energy services across the U.S., with a total electric capacity of more than 6,000 megawatts of nonregulated renewable energy is seeking a Remote Operations Center Generation Operator to be based in Charlotte, N.C.
Position Summary
Job duties include maintaining daily logs of system events, providing immediate verbal notifications of unusual activities to the appropriate personnel, preparing daily power nominations and reports. Overseeing the safe and reliable operations of wind, solar farm and battery assets. Monitoring real-time power output, performance, and energy yield of each generating facility. Responsible for maintaining availability levels at each renewable energy site as well as following curtailment directives from entities (e.g. Reliability Coordinator, Transmission Operator, Power Marketer etc.). Under limited supervision, schedules and coordinates the load levels of power plant generation to maintain system integrity. Perform a variety of administrative duties, as well as being responsible for EH&S and other relevant compliance requirements. The candidate must maintain effective communication with wind and solar entities, ROC QSE, power off takers, and OEM wind providers.
Responsibilities
Operational Monitoring and Planning
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of generating units operating characteristics at all times, including availability, energy yield, and performance efficiency to effectively utilized units to fullest potential

Communication and Teambuilding
  • Engage teammates in process of real-time operations and assure reporting proficiency
  • Assist teammates in the growth and development of skills and abilities which will enhance both their present job skills and their future value to the company

Compliance Assurance
  • Be familiar with all protocols relating to maintenance, scheduling, EAPs and notifications
  • Assist outage scheduling team in providing a workable outage schedule which guarantees all issues are handled by procedures outlined in the Settlement Agreement or Agreement in Principal

Basic Qualifications
  • High School/GED
  • 2 years of equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or relevant field.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Exhibits leadership characteristics
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of the company's energy management system
  • Detailed knowledge of power systems, including transmission, load control, voltage control, frequency control, automatic generation control, and NERC performance standards
  • Knowledge of generating unit operations, engineering, or maintenance practices
  • Additional years of renewable generation dispatching experience are strongly preferred and will be given preference over other power industry experience
  • Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier and solar PV technology desired

Working Conditions
  • 24/7 shift work in office environment, 12 hour rotating shift, on-call responsibilities
  • Must have approved DOA on file with Risk Management
  • This is a in-person position, located in Charotte, NC
