JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:
The Systems Engineer will provide DevOps systems engineering, platform operations, automation, integration, security collaboration, and sustainment support for enterprise platforms and associated business solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating and maintaining Red Hat OpenShift environments across multiple security domains, supporting cloud and datacenter platforms, and collaborating with technical, security, and stakeholder teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure enterprise services.
• Operate, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve Red Hat OpenShift environments across multiple security domains in cloud and datacenter environments, including vSphere.
• Perform OpenShift command line interface and administrative activities, including login, project creation, application deployment, service exposure, remote shell access, log review, debugging, and RBAC policy administration.
• Support deployment and configuration of OpenShift environments to new sites as they come online, including implementation, validation, transition, and sustainment activities.
• Maintain platform reliability, availability, performance, and operational readiness through disciplined operations and maintenance practices.
• Support Kubernetes, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), OpenShift, or comparable container orchestration platforms in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Support Docker or similar container technology, container image management, runtime configuration, and platform-level troubleshooting.
• Develop, maintain, or support infrastructure-as-code and configuration management capabilities using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar technologies.
• Support source code management and CI/CD collaboration platforms such as GitLab, Bitbucket, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Argo CD, or similar tools.
• Build, compile, automate, and support Shell scripting, Java, Python, JavaScript, or related application and platform automation components.
• Support DevSecOps practices, including security scanning, software supply chain scanning, vulnerability remediation coordination, and secure delivery workflows.
• Work with internal and external teams to understand integration requirements and scale existing platforms to meet operational, mission, and stakeholder needs.
• Support enterprise data services and platform components including RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack, or comparable messaging, data, and observability services.
• Collaborate with Security teams to ensure ongoing compliance, develop secure solutions, resolve findings, and align implementation activities with approved security practices.
• Communicate technical concepts, operational status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to technical teams, non-technical stakeholders, project leadership, and Government representatives.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, incident response coordination, release support, and continuous improvement activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE REQUIREMENT:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Programming, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5 to 8 years of relevant systems engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, software development, or related technical experience.
• Experience operating and maintaining Red Hat OpenShift environments across multiple security domains in cloud and datacenter environments.
• Experience with OpenShift CLI activities and administrative functions, including application deployment, project management, service exposure, troubleshooting, logging, debugging, and RBAC administration.
• Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, OpenShift, or another container orchestration platform.
• Experience with cloud computing, hybrid on-premises solutions, Docker or similar container technology, and source repository and CI/CD collaboration platforms such as GitLab, Bitbucket, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Ability to build, compile, script, and automate using Shell scripting, Java, Python, JavaScript, Git, or related technologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. Citizenship.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE:
• Experience with Argo CD or similar continuous delivery technology.
• Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Technical background in software development, DevSecOps, or secure platform engineering.
• Experience with security scanning, software supply chain scanning, vulnerability management support, and secure development practices.
• Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar configuration management technology.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services and AWS certifications such as Developer, DevOps, Architect, or comparable credentials.
• Experience with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with SAFe Agile methodologies or SAFe certification.
• Experience supporting the NASA Web Services Operational Environment.
• Additional software ecosystem experience with RESTful API design, JavaScript, TypeScript, ReactJS, Java Swing, JavaFX, NASA World Wind Java, ATAK, Cesium, Protocol Buffers, Avro, OpenGL/OpenCL, CUDA, or related technologies.
