Federal Civilian Agencies - Campus & Branch, Zero Trust, WAN

HPE Networking is a leading provider of AI-driven, next-generation networking solutions that help organizations modernize infrastructure, improve user experiences, and securely connect people, places, applications, and data.

We are seeking a Senior Presales Systems Engineer to join our Federal Civilian Agency organization. This role is ideal for a customer-facing technical leader who thrives in dynamic environments and can connect mission priorities to practical architecture and solution outcomes.

Responsible for providing technical leadership and pre-sales support in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customer requirements. Builds and maintains strong customer relationships that drive trust, technical credibility, and customer satisfaction. Serves as a senior technical advisor in complex deal pursuits, bringing deep product and technology expertise to customer engagements and internal account teams.

The Senior Presales Systems Engineer is a subject matter expert in their area of specialization and is responsible for consulting with customers on end-to-end technical designs that align business goals to practical, scalable architectures. This role is highly customer-facing and is focused on selling activities that primarily occur outside HPE offices.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the senior pre-sales technical advisor for assigned Federal Civilian Agency customers, with primary emphasis on campus, branch, WAN, security, and access control architectures

  • Partner with Account Managers to identify, qualify, and advance opportunities from discovery through close

  • Lead customer discovery and translate business, operational, and technical requirements into solution architectures and roadmaps

  • Design and present solutions spanning wired and wireless campus networking, branch networking, WAN, security, NAC, automation, and cloud-managed operations

  • Build and deliver technical proposals, presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements

  • Articulate HPE Networking differentiation and position solutions effectively against competitive alternatives

  • Engage with internal engineering, product management, services, and partner teams to remove blockers and align solutions to customer outcomes

  • Maintain strong awareness of market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies relevant to cloud-driven customer environments

  • Develop trusted relationships with customer engineers, architects, operations leaders, and decision-makers

  • Support channel and partner engagement where applicable to expand reach and influence within accounts

  • Travel regularly to customer sites, internal meetings, and strategic events

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience

  • Significant pre-sales systems engineering, solution consulting, or related customer-facing experience in enterprise or cloud-focused environments

  • Deep experience in campus and branch networking, including wired, wireless, WAN, security, and network access control

  • Strong Juniper Junos and Mist experience is required. API knowledge is preferred. SRX knowledge is highly desirable or knowledge with DMVPN, ADVPN, or GroupVPN.

  • Experience with network access security solutions such as HPE Aruba ClearPass, Juniper Access Assurance, Cisco ISE, or similar platforms

  • Solid working knowledge of data center and WAN technologies; direct hands-on experience in either or both is strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting complex customer environments and translating technical capabilities into mission value

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage from engineer to executive level

  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations primarily throughout the United States
