Comfort of Home Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our passionate team in providing exceptional mental health services. In this full-time, remote role based out of Elizabeth, New Jersey, you will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate care, conducting assessments, and creating customized treatment plans to help our clients navigate their mental health journeys. • Conduct thorough preliminary interviews with clients, meticulously documenting their cases from the first consultation to the conclusion of treatment to ensure continuity of care.
• Evaluate clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health using established assessment tools and frameworks, enabling accurate diagnosis and tailored interventions.
• Develop and implement effective intervention and recovery plans for a variety of client configurations, including individuals, couples, families, and groups, utilizing evidence-based approaches.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, providing clients with the coping strategies and skills necessary to manage their mental health challenges.
• Monitor clients' progress throughout their treatment plans, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize outcomes.
• Collaborate with other mental health specialists, doctors, nurses, and social workers to form comprehensive intervention strategies that address the multifaceted nature of clients' needs.
• Follow up with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients who are hospitalized, ensuring a coordinated approach to care.
• Identify and prevent behaviors that may impede recovery, employing proactive strategies to enhance client self-efficacy and motivational interviewing techniques.
• Assist family members and primary caregivers in managing mental and behavioral challenges, which may include providing education on mental health conditions and resources.

Our clients come from diverse backgrounds, including those facing various mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, and more. By focusing on individualized care, we aim to meet each client where they are, devising strategies that are culturally sensitive and appropriate for their unique circumstances. Your role will be integral in building trusting relationships with clients, understanding their experiences, and fostering a non-judgmental environment that facilitates open communication.

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New Jersey.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and empathetic manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a sympathetic nature and ability to build rapport with clients and their families.

• Prior experience working as a mental health counselor, particularly in a community health setting.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, to manage case documentation efficiently.
• A comprehensive understanding of the interplay between physical health conditions and mental health, including experience in treating addiction disorders.
• Familiarity with the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
• A nuanced understanding of the effects of medications prescribed for mental health treatment.
