Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our dynamic team at the American Counseling Center. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work remotely while making a meaningful impact in a school setting. As an LCSW, you will provide essential support to students, assisting them in navigating emotional, social, and environmental challenges that affect their well-being and academic performance.

About the Organization

The American Counseling Center is a leading provider of rehabilitation services based in Pueblo, Colorado. We are dedicated to helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life following injury, illness, or disability. Our organization offers a range of evidence-based therapies, combining physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology into comprehensive rehabilitation services.

Our interdisciplinary team is committed to delivering individualized care that maximizes functional independence for our diverse patient population. We take pride in our state-of-the-art facilities and our specialized knowledge in treating conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic surgeries, and neurological disorders.

Work Environment

This position allows for a flexible remote work arrangement, enabling an ideal work-life balance while supporting students in their school environment. You will collaborate closely with educators and other allied health professionals to create a supportive network for students. Regular video conferencing and virtual meetings will facilitate ongoing communication and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of students through interviews, direct observations, and analysis of previous educational and psychological records.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing their emotional and behavioral challenges, and assisting them in developing coping strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and educational staff to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that reflect each student’s needs.
  • Assist in identifying and connecting students and families with community resources, such as support groups, mental health services, and academic tutoring.
  • Educate students and families about mental health issues and available resources, fostering a supportive environment both at home and at school.
  • Engage in proactive discharge planning, strategies for reintegration into educational settings, and facilitate transitions to appropriate services post-rehabilitation.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with students from diverse backgrounds who may be experiencing a range of emotional, social, and academic challenges. Your insights and interventions will be critical in promoting their mental well-being and academic success, thus contributing to their overall personal development. You will also collaborate with families to address systemic issues that may affect the child's educational experience.

Qualifications
  • A valid and active Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in Colorado.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a social work setting, preferably with youth or in a school context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and confidentiality.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in educational settings with children and adolescents.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care approaches and best practices in school-based mental health.
  • Knowledge of community resources available for youth and families.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities. You will also be eligible for a sign-on bonus to welcome you to our team.

Career Growth Opportunities

The American Counseling Center is committed to the professional development of our employees. As a member of our team, you will have access to ongoing training and educational resources, mentorship programs, and opportunities for advancement within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be encouraged to take part in continuous professional learning to expand your expertise in social work and mental health.

Why Join Our Team

Joining the American Counseling Center means becoming part of a mission-driven organization that values compassion, teamwork, and innovation. By working with us, you will have the chance to make a significant difference in the lives of students and their families. If you are passionate about social work and are eager to empower young individuals to navigate their challenges, we invite you to apply.
