What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote non financial auditor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Non-Financial Auditor, you need expertise in audit procedures, risk assessment, and compliance, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field. Familiarity with audit management software (such as TeamMate or AuditBoard), data analysis tools, and relevant industry certifications (like CIA or CISA) is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for collaborating remotely and delivering clear audit findings. These capabilities ensure thorough, accurate audits and help organizations maintain compliance and operational integrity from a remote environment.

What is a remote non financial audit?

A Remote Non Financial Audit is an assessment of a company's processes, operations, or compliance with policies that is conducted virtually rather than on-site, and focuses on areas outside of financial statements, such as quality control, regulatory compliance, or internal procedures. Auditors use digital tools and communication platforms to review documentation, interview staff, and assess practices from a distance. This type of audit is increasingly popular due to its efficiency and the ability to reach organizations regardless of location. It helps organizations identify risks and improve operations without physical travel.

Job description

Senior Financial Analyst - Remote
About Thriveworks
Thriveworks is one of the leading mental healthcare companies in the U.S., with over 2,800 employees. Founded and led by clinicians, our mission is to help people live happy, healthy lives. As we continue to scale, we are building a best-in-class Finance function that partners closely with operations, clinical leadership, and growth teams to drive performance and expand access to care.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic decision-making across a rapidly growing, multi-site healthcare organization.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations, and data, and is ideal for someone who can combine strong financial acumen with analytical rigor. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze business performance, build models, and deliver insights that inform key decisions around growth, efficiency, and profitability.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with large, complex datasets, building financial models, and translating data into actionable recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across clinics, regions, and service lines.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify key drivers of financial performance.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support decision-making (e.g., provider hiring, clinic performance, service line expansion)

Business Performance & Insights
  • Analyze clinic level and provider level economics, including utilization, revenue per visit, and cost structure.
  • Identify trends in patient volume, LTV, payer mix, reimbursement rates, and operational performance.
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for business leaders.

Data & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (Power BI or similar) integrating financial and operational data.
  • Partner with Data Analytics to ensure accuracy and consistency across datasets.
  • Work with large, multi-source datasets to build reliable reporting.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate with Operations, Clinical, and various other departments to support data driven decision-making.
  • Present findings and recommendations to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Support ad hoc analyses for senior leadership and strategic initiatives.

Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting and improve data workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable processes and tools as the company grows.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field
  • 3-6+ years of analytical finance experience, ideally in investment banking, consulting or healthcare
  • Strong financial modeling skills and understanding of financial statements and KPIs.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing data analysis.

Technical Skills
  • Advanced Excel required
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) preferred.
  • Familiarity with data processing tools (e.g., Alteryx) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or Python is a plus.

What We're Looking For
  • Strong analytical thinker with the ability to break down complex problems.
  • Ability to connect financial metrics to operational drivers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain insights to non-finance audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.

Why This Role
This is an opportunity to play a key role in scaling the organization during its high growth phase. You will gain exposure to senior leadership, work on high impact initiatives, and help shape how Thriveworks uses data and finance to improve access to care.
Successful Thriveworks employees believe in our mission to help people live happy, healthy lives.
