Job description

We are seeking a technically skilled Pre-Sales Network Engineer to support our SMB Internet Sales by providing technical expertise throughout the sales process. This role serves as the bridge between customers, Sales, and internal Engineering, Design, and Field Operations teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, meet customer requirements, and can be successfully deployed.

The ideal candidate has a strong networking background and is comfortable discussing network design, connectivity, and infrastructure with customer IT staff, network administrators, and business decision-makers. This individual will help qualify opportunities, recommend appropriate internet and networking solutions, and support the successful delivery of services.

This position may be based anywhere along the East Coast; however, preference will be given to candidates located within our key markets, including New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.


Essential Functions:

  • Partner with SMB Sales team members throughout the sales cycle to provide technical consultation and solution design.
  • Conduct virtual customer discovery sessions to understand current network environments, business requirements, and technical challenges.
  • Recommend internet connectivity solutions based on customer needs.
  • Communicate directly with customer IT teams to review network requirements, implementation considerations, and technical expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal Network Engineering, Network Design, Service Delivery, and Field Operations teams to validate solution feasibility and deployment readiness.
  • Review serviceability, network availability, and technical requirements for proposed solutions.
  • Develop network diagrams, technical documentation, and solution recommendations.
  • Assist with customer presentations, technical demonstrations and discussions when appropriate.
  • Identify implementation risks early and recommend alternative solutions when necessary.
  • Support project handoffs to implementation and provisioning teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Stay current on networking technologies, internet services, and industry best practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong understanding of: Business Internet and WAN connectivity TCP/IP networking, Routing and Switching, Firewalls and network security fundamentals, Ethernet services, Wireless networking fundamentals
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise or SMB network environments.
  • Ability to interpret and create network diagrams.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in Network Engineering, Network Support, Systems Engineering, or Technical Pre-Sales.
  • Experience with fiber-based internet, dedicated internet access (DIA), Ethernet services, and managed network solutions.
  • Experience working for an ISP, telecommunications provider, managed service provider (MSP), or technology integrator.
  • Knowledge of Nokia, eero, Cisco, or similar networking platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking and AWS connectivity.

Compensation & Benefits:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this position is $66,000 - $83,000. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
