Job description

Orlando Informer is reshaping what's possible in theme-park hospitality. We create distinctive experiences and lifelong memories for families from around the world. We're looking for an exceptional Software Engineer to build thoughtful, reliable technology that powers our guest experiences and helps our team deliver hospitality at scale.

Founded in 2011, Orlando Informer is a theme-park vacation-planning company that helps millions of people each year plan better visits to Orlando's biggest destinations. Since 2015, our signature private events, the Orlando Informer Meetup, have given thousands of guests after-hours access and unique experiences at their favorite theme parks. Orlando Informer is also an authorized retailer of theme-park tickets and hotel stays.

About the role

As a software engineer at Orlando Informer, you'll help build best-in-class experiences for guests planning their trips to the Orlando theme parks. Our engineering team is small, collaborative, and fast, and we hold a high bar for the work we ship.
You'll own meaningful pieces of the product from day one: our React Native mobile app, the Node services behind it, and the data layer tying our ticketing, events, and guest systems together. Being small and remote-first means you'll see a lot of the business, from consumer features used by hundreds of thousands of guests to the internal tooling our team leans on during our Orlando Informer Meetup.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about the parks, pragmatic, takes ownership, and cares about delivering high-quality features.
What you'll do

  • Build and ship features in our React Native (Expo) mobile app, from concept through App Store and Play Store release
  • Design, build, and maintain Node/NestJS APIs that power our mobile and web experiences
  • Write and optimize SQL against our MySQL databases, and help shape the schema as our products grow
  • Integrate with third-party platforms, including Stripe, Shopify, and partner ticketing systems
  • Debug production issues across the stack and improve the reliability of what we've already built
  • Collaborate closely with a lean team, and help decide what gets built next

Requirements

What you'll bring
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production applications
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills across both client and server
  • Ability to use AI tools to improve the speed of your work without sacrificing quality
  • Hands-on experience with React Native (Expo experience a plus), including the realities of app store builds, releases, and OTA updates
  • Experience building backend services in Node, ideally with a structured framework such as NestJS or Express
  • Solid SQL skills and experience designing and querying relational databases (we use MySQL)
  • Comfort integrating third-party APIs and payment platforms
  • Experience debugging production systems with logs, metrics, and error tracking
  • Strong time-management skills
  • This is a remote position, but residency in Florida or Texas is required
    Bonus points for
  • Experience with Stripe, Shopify, or other commerce and payments platforms
  • Experience with cloud hosting and deployment (Heroku, AWS, or similar), CI/CD, and infrastructure work
  • Mobile analytics and monitoring tooling (Sentry, Mixpanel, PostHog)
  • A genuine interest in theme parks and travel
