WordPress Developer (Elementor, PHP, Site Speed Optimization) - Remote U.S. Hours
Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: U.S. Client Business Hours (flexibility for deployments & urgent fixes)
About the Role
We're hiring a WordPress Developer who can build, customize, and optimize high-performing websites - not just assemble pages.
This role combines development, performance optimization, and problem-solving. You'll work across landing pages, blogs, and full websites, ensuring everything is fast, secure, SEO-optimized, and conversion-ready.
If you've worked with Elementor + custom code + performance optimization, this role is a strong fit.
What You'll Own
WordPress Development (Core Focus)
  • Build and customize WordPress websites using:
    • Elementor
    • Divi
    • WPBakery
  • Develop and maintain child themes for scalability
  • Create custom templates for:
    • Landing pages
    • Blogs
    • Marketing pages

Plugin Development & Customization
  • Work with key plugins:
    • WooCommerce
    • Yoast SEO
    • Contact Form 7
  • Customize or extend plugins using PHP
  • Ensure compatibility across themes, plugins, and updates

Front-End Development & UX
  • Convert designs from:
    • Figma
    • Sketch
    • Adobe XD
  • Build pixel-perfect, responsive layouts
  • Ensure:
    • Cross-browser compatibility
    • Mobile optimization
    • Accessibility (WCAG standards)

Performance Optimization (Critical)
  • Improve site speed using:
    • Caching
    • Minification
    • Lazy loading
    • CDN integration
  • Run audits using:
    • Google Lighthouse
    • GTmetrix
  • Optimize Core Web Vitals for SEO + UX

Security & Maintenance
  • Manage updates (WordPress core, plugins, themes)
  • Implement security using:
    • Wordfence
    • Sucuri
  • Set up backups and recovery processes

Collaboration & Support
  • Work with marketing, design, and content teams
  • Troubleshoot bugs and site issues
  • Support non-technical team members with CMS usage

What Makes You a Strong Fit
  • You are both developer + problem-solver
  • You care about performance, speed, and clean builds
  • You can debug issues independently
  • You communicate clearly with non-technical teams

Required Experience & Skills
  • 2+ years of WordPress development experience
  • Strong skills in:
    • PHP
    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
  • Experience with:
    • Elementor / Divi / WPBakery
  • Experience with hosting platforms:
    • cPanel
    • WP Engine
    • SiteGround
    • Kinsta

Nice to Have (High-Value Candidates)
  • WooCommerce store builds and customization
  • Custom plugin development
  • SEO knowledge (technical + on-page)
  • Git / version control workflows
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

What a Typical Day Looks Like
  • Fix bugs, update content, and handle support tickets
  • Build new landing pages or features
  • Optimize performance and run speed audits
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaigns
  • Apply updates and ensure site security
  • Push changes via staging or Git

In short:
You ensure every WordPress site is fast, secure, scalable, and conversion-ready.
Key Metrics (KPIs)
  • On-time delivery of builds and updates
  • Page load speed < 3 seconds
  • Core Web Vitals ≥ 90%
  • Minimal downtime and security issues
  • Strong internal team satisfaction

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Real ownership of websites (not just maintenance)
  • Work across performance, UX, and development
  • Exposure to marketing + conversion-focused builds
  • Opportunity to grow into senior dev / tech lead roles

Interview Process
  • Initial Phone Screen
  • Video Interview with Recruiter
  • Practical Task:
    • Build a landing page from Figma OR optimize a demo site
  • Client Interview
  • Offer & Background Verification

Apply Now
If you:
  • Know WordPress beyond drag-and-drop
  • Care about speed, performance, and UX
  • Can build and troubleshoot independently

This role is a strong fit.
