Remote No Experience Biomedical Engineer information

What is a remote no experience biomedical engineer?

A remote no experience biomedical engineer is someone who works in the biomedical engineering field from a remote location, typically starting in an entry-level position that does not require prior professional experience. These roles often focus on supporting projects, assisting with research, or performing data analysis under supervision. Remote roles may involve tasks like reviewing scientific literature, assisting with documentation, or helping with basic design and testing of medical devices. Employers may seek candidates with a degree in biomedical engineering or a related field, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn on the job. These positions are ideal for recent graduates or those transitioning into biomedical engineering from a related discipline.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote no experience biomedical engineer?

To thrive as a remote entry-level Biomedical Engineer, a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related field, along with foundational knowledge in biology, engineering principles, and medical device design, is essential. Familiarity with CAD software, data analysis tools like MATLAB, and virtual collaboration platforms is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills, especially when working remotely. These skills enable new professionals to contribute to innovative healthcare solutions, maintain productivity from a distance, and collaborate successfully with multidisciplinary teams.

What are some typical challenges faced by remote no experience biomedical engineers, and how can they overcome them?

Remote biomedical engineers who are just starting out often face challenges such as limited hands-on access to laboratory equipment, adjusting to virtual collaboration tools, and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. To overcome these, it's helpful to proactively seek virtual mentorship, participate in online training modules, and communicate regularly with team members using collaboration platforms. Engaging in virtual team meetings and asking for feedback can also accelerate learning and help build confidence in this remote, entry-level role.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM local time (excluding federal holidays)
Position Overview
CLF Consultants LLC is hiring entry-level, fully remote Medical Support Assistants to support the VA VISN 19 Office of Community Care. You work from home and serve Veterans and their families across the VISN 19 region, scheduling primary care visits, specialty clinic appointments, community care consults, and follow-up engagements. Every scheduling interaction directly supports a Veteran accessing healthcare. This is an entry-level federal healthcare role open to candidates with at least six months of customer service experience, basic computer skills, and a high school diploma or GED.
CLFC provides structured onboarding, federal cybersecurity orientation, VA system training (VistA and CPRS), scheduling protocols under VHA Directive 1230, and ongoing coaching to set every team member up for success. The role offers stable weekday scheduling on a long-term federal healthcare program and a genuine gateway into federal healthcare administration.
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule Veteran appointments for primary care, specialty clinics, and community care in accordance with VHA Directive 1230; meet scheduling accuracy and timeliness standards each shift.
  • Verify and update patient demographics, next of kin, emergency contact, and insurance information with the precision federal records standards require.
  • Document interactions in CPRS and VistA at the volume and accuracy the contract requires, averaging at least 20 cases per day over the week.
  • Coordinate with the Lead Scheduler and care teams; escalate stalled referrals and system issues through defined channels.
  • Provide professional, empathetic customer service to Veterans, family members, and VA staff by phone and secure channels.
  • Complete annual cybersecurity, Privacy Act, and HIPAA training, and maintain strict confidentiality on every record.
Required Qualifications
  • United States citizenship.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English; basic computer skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation (NACI, Low Risk).
  • A quiet, private home workspace within 50 miles of a VISN 19 VA Medical Center, with reliable high speed internet.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a federal healthcare setting (VA, military health system, federal contractor, or community health center).
  • Familiarity with VistA, CPRS, or VA community care referral systems.
  • Background in healthcare scheduling, medical office administration, insurance verification, or a healthcare call center.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish or another language spoken across the VISN 19 service area).
  • Military service or military-spouse remote-workforce background.
Compensation and Engagement Details
  • Hourly base pay set to the federal Service Contract Act Wage Determination for your location (see the pay range on this posting).
  • Quarterly performance bonus: Tier 1 up to $520 per quarter, Tier 2 up to $260 per quarter (up to $2,080 annually).
  • Service Contract Act Health and Welfare benefits (health, dental, vision), plus paid sick leave under Executive Order 13706.
  • Paid time off and the federal holiday schedule; retirement plan eligibility after a qualifying period.
  • Structured federal onboarding: cybersecurity attestation, VA system training (VistA, CPRS), and HIPAA compliance.
  • A dedicated CLFC Program Manager and mentor support, with a path to Lead roles as the program grows.
  • Multi-year contract potential: base year plus four option years.
  • Fully remote: no commute, VA-furnished equipment, and a mission-impact role supporting Veteran healthcare access.
