International Radiologist - Roles Across New Zealand

About the Role

Radiologists in New Zealand interpret medical images, perform interventional procedures, and provide specialist diagnostic advice to support patient care. You will work in welcoming, collegial environments with opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and continuous learning.

Radiologist Specialties

Opportunities exist for Radiologists with general or subspecialty interests. Clinical areas include:

  • Diagnostic Radiology: X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound
  • Interventional Radiology: vascular, neurointerventional, oncology, and general procedures
  • Breast Radiology: screening and assessment clinics within BreastScreen Aotearoa

Salary, Benefits and Leave

Salary:

  • The average salary package for Radiologists in New Zealand is NZ $343,500.
  • Packages are comprised of a base salary based on experience, plus allowances, and superannuation per the ASMS collective agreement.

  • paid 3-month sabbaticals every 6 years,

What You Need to Work Here

To practise as a Radiologist in New Zealand, you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate. You will typically require an overseas qualification comparable to Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) or equivalent and meet MCNZ requirements for vocational registration.

International Radiologists may be granted provisional vocational registration initially and must complete a period of supervised practice before applying for full vocational registration.
