Position Summary:

The Network Engineer position is accountable for support and expansion of our dynamic multi-tenant environments. This position blends traditional network engineering responsibilities with hands-on management of broadband carriers, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across distributed customer environments.

As part of our Engineering team, you’ll act as a critical escalation point during the evening shift, supporting both our customers and internal teams by resolving complex networking issues and managing site connectivity across our carrier footprint. This role is ideal for a network professional who excels in both deep technical troubleshooting and vendor/carrier coordination within a fast-paced MSP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the evening shift's lead escalation point for network-related issues, including firewall, routing, VPN, and carrier incidents.
  • Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco and Fortinet firewalls, including NAT, ACLs, site-to-site VPNs, and client VPNs.
  • Manage broadband carrier relationships, including provisioning, incident triage, service-level escalations, and performance optimization for client site connectivity.
  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot networking infrastructure (IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, switching, and routing).
  • Support and troubleshoot VMware environments, especially in multi-tenant or hosted settings.
  • Experience with vSphere and NSX-T (NAT, ACLs, IPSec tunnels) required.
  • Assist with network-related issues within Linux and Windows operating systems, including IP configuration, routing, and firewall troubleshooting (iptables, netplan, etc.).
  • Respond to DNS-related escalations and perform in-depth resolution and troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks, build guides, and operational procedures.
  • Create and update network diagrams using approved tools to support infrastructure clarity and incident response.
  • Participate in the Engineering team’s on-call escalation and network team rotation.
  • Contribute to network governance, compliance, and security policy enforcement across environments.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Actively seek opportunities to automate and streamline network processes or support automation projects.
  • Occasional weekend maintenance windows, as required.

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years in network engineering, preferably within an MSP, hosting provider, or multi-tenant environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience with firewall platforms, particularly Cisco and Fortinet.
  • Strong knowledge of routing/switching, IP addressing (IPv4/IPv6), and VLAN configurations.
  • Experience with VMware environments, including vSphere and NSX-T networking.
  • Understanding of DNS resolution and troubleshooting, especially across distributed environments.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux network stack configuration and troubleshooting tools.
  • Familiarity with network automation or scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, REST APIs).
  • Certifications such as Fortinet NSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or VMware VCP-NV.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI-DSS.
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust or advanced segmentation strategies.
  • Effective communicator with strong written and verbal English skills, capable of supporting clients live on calls.
  • Solid experience working with broadband carriers, including provisioning, escalation, and site failover scenarios.
  • Competence in documentation practices: tickets, Knowledgebase, change logs, and network diagrams.
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting mindset; adaptable to complex, real-time issues.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Strategic thinking and collaborative problem-solving ability
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems under pressure
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
