Job description

Overview

Apogee is actively seeking a COMSAT Analyst to support USSPACECOM. This position provides provide technical and engineering support services to the Commercial C-SSE which includes technical engineering services to support technical analysis, plans, and operations to C-SSE staff and customers.

This is a full-time located in Colorado Springs, CO at Peterson Space Force Base (SFB)

Responsibilities
  • Serves as technical consultant for transmissions management and control in the Super High Frequency (SHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Commercial satellite systems
  • Develop/coordinate policy and plans for commercial satellite communication programs. Develop definitive technical solutions that consider systems architecture, interoperability, interfaces, protocols, networking, expansion potential and overall end-to-end compatibility
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions to future communications and automation operational challenges using knowledge of satellite communications systems and their relationship to other telecommunications networks
  • Provide technical and operational planning, system configuration and operational mission support
  • Develop technical and management comments reflecting the command position with respect to USSF and Joint actions, interface with other commands and higher authorities
  • Assist in managing commercial SATCOM ground segment and gateways for transition to current/future satellites through concept, development, testing, procurement, production, and fielding
  • Coordinate and assist CCMD J6s and Service components with the development of commercial communications in support of theater OPLANS
  • Collect and maintain critical data related to Service terminal basis of issue and capabilities as a knowledge management function
  • Collect and maintain knowledge base on commercial satellite constellation coverage and status
Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen Clearance: A minimum of a TS with ability to obtain SCI required at time of application Education: HS Diploma with 9 years or Bachelor's with 4 years relevant experienceAdditional Experience:

  • 4+ years operational experience with Commercial SATCOM systems
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with the SATCOM apportionment planning and allocation processes taking into consideration all ground, space, and control networks, and operational control of sub-networks for apportioned SATCOM resources

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior military or government experience in SATCOM support or planning, ideally with:

    • 4 SOPS / 4th Space Operations Squadron
    • 53 SOPS / 53rd Space Operations Squadron
    • AEHF, MILSTAR, MILSATCOM, WGS, DSCS, protected band, wideband, or Ka-band payload operations/planning.
  • Experience supporting SPACECOM, a CCMD J6 or J3, or similar joint/combined operational environment.

  • Experience with doctrine, policy, or technical writing, including:

    • CONOPS development
    • CJCSI or Service-level instructions
    • Space/missile/communications doctrine, policy, or guidance
    • Drafting, restructuring, revising, and staffing technical or doctrinal documents.
