Role & responsibilities:
As a Senior Network Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of security requirements for deploying voice solutions in the field. Experience configuring Cisco Routers, Switches, SDWAN and VXLAN to predefined standards in a voice environment ensuring an 99.999% uptime. Experienced in the operational network/voice environment and using high-level functional voice systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation methodologies on complex problems.
In addition, your duties will consist of:
  • Knowledge of the NG911 topology and associated equipment
  • Participating in network planning, engineering, and architecture processes.
  • Produce and/or maintain technical and procedural documentation as directed.
  • Provide 2nd or 3rd level support on incidents and service requests.
  • Deploy, configure network devices based on designs and standards provided.
  • Maximize network performance and availability by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  • Secure network system by establishing and enforcing policies.

Skills Required
  • Possess in-depth knowledge and experience with the following platforms in IPv4 and IPv6 environments:
  • Cisco SD-WAN
  • Versa
  • Cisco ISR and ASR Routing platforms
  • Cisco Nexus 9K Switching.

  • Cisco NG Firewalls

  • Coordinate activities among multiple groups to ensure 99.999% uptime for the organization.
  • Provide on-call technical support after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Document designs and policies associated with networks and maintain proper documentation of systems configurations.
  • Experience with Virtualized Networks (VMware, Google Cloud Platform, Azure Cloud Platform)
  • Ability to work as a part of a distributed team, despite the diversity (cultural, geographic and other differences)
  • Participate in on-call schedule and, when required, work outside of normal business hours during planned maintenance windows.
  • Lead network-related projects, from concept to deployment, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide recommendations for network improvements.
  • Implement and enforce network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption standards.
  • Monitor for vulnerabilities and apply patches, updates, or changes to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Understanding and knowledge of security NIST, CIS, or NENA
  • Managing and working with other Managed Service Providers such as Lumen Versa.
  • Possess clear and effective communication skills (oral and written English)
  • Excellent email and telephone etiquette
  • 10+ years demonstrated experience in network engineering, implementing, and maintaining geographically dispersed networks.
  • 5+ years of network security experience (Firewalls, security tools, threat mitigation, etc.).
  • Demonstrates ability to advance technologies, processes, and practices in area of specialization or discipline.
  • Desirable: Possess Cisco CCNP, CCIE, Security and/or SDWAN certification or equivalent experience
  • Desirable: Azure, GCP and/or VMware Certification
  • Desirable: NG 9-1-1 networking or carrier grade voice networking
