Responsible for prospecting/hunting and securing net-new business customers within a defined territory. This role focuses on engaging medium to large potential accounts, developing tailored solutions, and collaborating with category experts and internal teams to close deals and onboard new clients. Daily engagement with prospects occurs face-to-face, via phone, video, and through digital tools.
Work Location: This is a remote position with a regional focus. This position supports customers in Northern California, Washington, Nevada, or Oregon. While the role primarily supports working from home, the individual performing this role would live within or adjacent to this region.
What you'll be doing:
  • Develop and implement a strategic prospecting plan for high-value accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Management Team and Sales Engineer to make informed pricing decisions based on competitive spend analysis, servicing needs, and future commitments.
  • Partner with internal resources, including support teams, account executives, and category experts, to meet customer requirements and ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Build and deliver impactful presentations tailored to prospect needs, both virtually and in person.
  • Map a sales strategy for large potential customers, leveraging collaboration with category experts to close deals.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of Staples' products and services to address customer challenges effectively.
  • Utilize prescribed sales tools to prioritize activities, document customer engagements, and drive efficiency.

What you bring to the table:
  • Strong motivation to succeed and excel in competitive environments.
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and close sales opportunities while managing high-value accounts.
  • Expertise in consultative selling, negotiation, and tailoring solutions to industry trends and customer needs.
  • Effective communicator with virtual and in-person presentation skills.
  • Collaborative, disciplined, and organized, with strong business and technological acumen.
  • Receptive to feedback and experienced in engaging senior-level customers.

What's needed - Basic Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in a business development
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Experience using PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

What's needed - Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM).
