Position Summary
The Coating INSPECTOR is responsible for surveilling and evaluating suppliers to ensure that all delivered equipment complies with the company's quality standards, regulatory requirements, and performance specifications. The role involves travel to perform onsite inspections, document reviews, functional testing, and continuous improvement activities that protect product integrity and maintain supplier accountability.
  • Manage, review and close supplier corrective requests
  • Observe the mixing process, ensure adherence to proper induction time. Ensure pot life is not exceeded
  • Observe instrument calibration reports
  • Observe cures for design, fabrication defects, and hard to reach areas with regards to surface preparation, and coatings
  • Prepare and complete audit reports with photos and communicate audit information to cross functional team and supplier in a timely manner
  • Review supplier's change notifications and determine impact on internal systems
  • Maintain detailed audit reports and supplier files
  • Interface with suppliers to ensure product compliance are to specification and perform supplier audits as needed
  • Develop measurement techniques for product release at suppliers
  • Provide support for the manufacturing areas (external)
  • Work with production personnel and supervise to determine and monitor quality metrics, samples plans, and address non-conforming product issues
  • Assist corrective and preventive action investigations to resolve the root cause of problems
  • Review incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality
  • Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws
  • Serve as a liaison between the organizations' senior management, clients, and vendors
  • Read work instructions and/or drawings to interpret and confirm production and/or assembly information

Work will be on an as needed basis with no guaranteed hours. Rates will be based on experience and current certifications. Please include related experience and current certifications with resume submission.

Requirements
  • Ability to work 50+ hours a week
  • High School Diploma/GED Certification
  • NACE Level 1 required
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and standards
  • Proficient in applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
  • Prove ability to provide visionary strategic leadership; experience guiding the implementation of a strategic plan, measuring progress, and adapting as necessary
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow company procedures and manufacturers guidelines
  • Basic understanding of electricity and instrumentation
  • Ability to work alone or within a group
  • Self-driven to completion of job
  • Must have a strong commitment to personal and team safety
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the team, customers, and external contacts., via telephone, in written form, email, and in person

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to travel from 90-100%
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 25 lbs

  • Ability to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance on the job
  • Perform work in remote field settings and exposure to extreme weather conditions including hot, cold, muddy, and wet environments
  • Valid active driver's license and the ability to operate a vehicle
  • Ability to pass all random DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing
