Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled DevSecOps Engineer to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) under the T4NG2 contract vehicle. This role will be part of an agile delivery team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and automated solutions across the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of development, operations, and cybersecurity expertise, with experience in cloud-native environments and federal IT systems. This role is critical to enabling rapid, secure software delivery in support of mission-critical Veteran services.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • This position is primarily remote; however, must be able to come on-site in Washington, DC, as required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience
  • Relevant certifications, such as AWS DevOps, CKA, Security+, or CISSP, are preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting VA or federal IT programs
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
  • Experience with Platform One or VA Enterprise Cloud environments
  • Knowledge of healthcare IT systems or standards (HL7, FHIR, MUMPS)

Responsibilities

CI/CD & GitOps Delivery:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to support automated software delivery
  • Implement GitOps-based deployment workflows using ArgoCD
  • Support blue/green and canary deployment strategies within Kubernetes environments
  • Troubleshoot pipeline and deployment issues across environments

Cloud & Infrastructure (AWS GovCloud):

  • Manage and deploy applications in AWS GovCloud environments in compliance with VA security policies
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
  • Support containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Develop and maintain Helm charts and Kubernetes manifests for standardized deployments

DevSecOps & Compliance Automation:

  • Integrate security tools and practices into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps)
  • Integrate and maintain container and code security tools (e.g., Snyk, Aqua Security, Anchore, CodeQL)
  • Automate security compliance and ATO evidence generation (e.g., scan results, SBOMs, audit artifacts)
  • Support ATO processes and ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP requirements

Secrets, Observability & Platform Integration:

  • Manage secrets and credentials using HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and performance optimization solutions
  • Integrate with VA enterprise observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk)
  • Ensure alignment with VA Lighthouse API standards and enterprise integration patterns
    Collaboration & Agile Delivery
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure secure, scalable architectures
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives
