Job description

STV is hiring a Science & Technology National Market Sector Leader for our ever-expanding Buildings Group.

Your New Role:

As STV's Science & Technology National Market Sector Leader (S&T MSL), you will drive national growth, major pursuits, and industry visibility for science and technology related buildings and facilities across the United States.

You will help position STV as a recognized leader in the planning, design, engineering, and delivery of complex, high-performance environments. Your projects may include laboratories, cleanrooms, biopharma and advanced manufacturing facilities, semiconductor environments, and other high-performance science and technology spaces.

As our ideal candidate, you'll bring credibility at the national or multi-relational level within the S&T sectors, respected and trusted as a seller-doer and market delivery leader who leverages industry relationships, thought leadership, innovation, and best practices to differentiate STV.

In this senior, external-facing role, you will develop market growth and visibility plans, lead marquee pursuits, represent STV across key industry forums, mentor teams, and help recruit strategic talent. You will report to the Buildings National Development Director and partner closely with State/Regional Area Managers and multi-disciplinary engineers, planners & project managers in a "One STV" model.

You'll have the flexibility to work a hybrid or remote model depending on your location and must be available for regular travel to support this national role.

What You'll Be Leading:

Market Growth & Major Pursuits

  • You will set and lead STV's national Science & Technology market strategy, driving growth, major pursuits, sales performance, and backlog expansion.

  • You will lead the pursuit of high-value, complex Science & Technology opportunities across laboratories, cleanrooms, semiconductors, biopharma, advanced manufacturing, and other mission-critical environments.

  • You will serve as a national executive presence for STV, building trusted relationships with clients, institutional leaders, developers, and key decision-makers across the Science & Technology market.

  • You will cultivate strategic teaming partnerships that strengthen STV's competitive position and expand access to priority opportunities.

  • You will accelerate and mature the market pipeline by identifying, qualifying, and advancing strategic opportunities.

  • You will anticipate opportunities well ahead of procurement, shaping positioning, teaming, and capture strategies before solicitations are released.

  • You will engage senior client stakeholders and executive decision-makers to understand priorities, influence strategy, and position STV for long-term success.

  • You will translate client capital programs, strategic plans, and market signals into actionable growth strategies and targeted pursuits.

  • You will maintain disciplined pipeline management and forecasting through accurate tracking of major opportunities in STV's Vantagepoint system.

Market Leadership

  • You will define and advance STV's annual market visibility strategy, elevating the firm's presence and influence across the Science & Technology sector.

  • You will strengthen STV's reputation as a thought and delivery leader by serving in visible roles across regional and national industry organizations, advancing market-specific best practices, and representing the firm through speaking engagements, panels, and conferences.

  • You will help shape and strengthen STV's culture, capabilities, and team around the Science & Technology market.

  • You will identify, attract, and help secure strategic talent that strengthens STV's competitive position across regions.

  • You will provide internal market leadership through regular presentations that:

    • Promote the Science & Technology market across STV's business organizations.

    • Build interest and deepen the expertise of project managers and technical staff.

  • You will mentor project managers and technical leaders, helping build a stronger national bench for the market.

Market Project Delivery

  • You may serve as Project Executive, Principal-in-Charge, Project Manager, Technical Advisor, or Subject Matter Expert on select Science & Technology projects.

  • You will bring market insight and delivery best practices to project teams, helping align execution with client expectations, performance priorities, and sector-specific requirements.

  • You will partner with discipline leaders and Buildings Area Managers to ensure project delivery reflects client commitments and STV's standards of excellence.

What You'll Bring to this role:

Required Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering (or a related field).

  • You bring 15+ years of experience in the planning, design, or delivery of science, technology, and advanced manufacturing buildings.

  • National or regional AEC leadership experience in science, technology, and advanced manufacturing buildings.

  • Repeated ownership of winning major pursuits within Science & Technology.

  • Established relationships with Science & Technology clients, institutions, developers, or end users.

  • Credibility as a seller-doer, combining market leadership with delivery experience.

  • Ideal background as a client-facing Principal, Practice Leader, Project Executive, or Senior Technical Leader within an architecture, engineering, or PM/CM environment.

  • A desire to define, shape, and lead a national market, not just manage projects.

NicetoHaves

  • Professional licensure (e.g., Registered Architect, Professional Engineer) or an equivalent credential.

  • Leadership or active participation in industry organizations such as ISPE, Lab Design, Tradeline, SEMI, AIA, or ENR.

  • Conference speaking, panel participation, or published thought leadership in the Science & Technology market.

  • Experience strengthening firm-wide market visibility, brand recognition, or sector reputation.

  • Ability to influence strategic recruiting and mentoring across regions.

  • Experience integrating architecture, engineering, and specialty design disciplines within complex Science & Technology programs.

  • Familiarity with regulated environments, phased capital programs, and the delivery requirements of complex Science & Technology facilities.
