Job description

Yelp is looking for a Lead Product Manager to own ad format strategy and execution across our most important consumer surfaces. In this highly visible and impactful role, you'll define how ads look, where they appear, and how they perform. You are responsible for driving improvements to ad design, placement, and layout across Yelp's search results page and within Yelp Assistant, our AI-powered chat interface where ads are an emerging and important part of the experience.

If you're looking to own a high-impact part of the ads system at a billion-dollar company and would enjoy working closely with engineers, data scientists, designers, and peer product teams, then this is the role for you.

This opportunity is fully remote and does not require you to be located in any particular area in Canada. We welcome applicants from throughout Canada. We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes.

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for ad formats and placements across Yelp's core surfaces
  • Define and test new ad formats and layouts, including how ad content adapts by business type, context, and user intent
  • Drive advertising integration into evolving Yelp experiences, including Yelp Assistant, our AI-powered chat interface
  • Enhance the UX and design of ad units to improve relevance, performance, and the overall consumer experience
  • Partner with Data Science to design experiments, set success metrics, and interpret results — including tradeoffs between user experience and advertiser performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Search Product, and Ads teams to ship changes that move metrics on Yelp's highest-traffic surfaces
  • Work with Ads Auction and Ranking to understand how format decisions interact with targeting and delivery systems

  • Experience as a Product Manager in advertising, monetization, or search with a deep understanding of how ad formats, placements, and ad systems work together
  • Customer driven: energized by growing revenue and translating both consumers' and businesses' needs into concrete features
  • Problem solver: loves breaking down complex, unstructured problems into concrete features from conception to launch
  • Effective communicator: able to synthesize and translate between technical and non-technical audiences across stakeholders with complex tradeoffs
  • Tech savvy: has experience solving difficult, technically complex ads and product problems
  • Strong collaborator: enjoys working across different teams, functions, and product surfaces
  • Operational know-how: diligent on improving processes around ads system reliability and metrics monitoring, constantly thinks about how to make processes more efficient

The top end of the compensation range for this role exceeds $200,000 annually. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a compensation range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data and years of experience. The actual compensation offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience and skill set.

  • You may also be offered restricted stock units and benefits.
  • This opportunity has the option to be fully remote in all locations across Canada.
  • This role is posted to fill an existing position.
  • You can find more information about Yelp's five star benefits here!
