Position Overview

The Front-End Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web applications that comply with Federal standards and modern web development practices. This role collaborates with Product Owners, Federal Project Managers (FPMs), Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers, Solution Architects, Back-End Developers, and QA Engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and intuitive user interfaces that meet business, technical, and accessibility requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Design, develop, and maintain responsive, mobile-first web applications using modern front-end frameworks and technologies.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Build user interfaces using the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) to ensure consistency with Federal design and usability standards.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Translate UI/UX designs, wireframes, and business requirements into intuitive, accessible, and high-quality user interfaces.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Develop reusable UI components, templates, and front-end libraries that promote scalability and maintainability.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and back-end services.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure applications are fully responsive and compatible across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure compliance with Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and Federal accessibility standards.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Optimize application performance, browser compatibility, and user experience.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement design systems, branding, and responsive layouts.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Participate in Agile development activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, code reviews, sprint demonstrations, and continuous integration.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Troubleshoot and resolve UI defects, accessibility issues, and performance bottlenecks.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application quality.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Document technical designs, reusable components, and development standards.

Required Qualifications

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Minimum of 5 years of experience developing enterprise web applications.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Strong proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience implementing responsive, mobile-first web applications using modern CSS techniques such as Flexbox and CSS Grid.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience implementing the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) or similar enterprise design systems.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience integrating RESTful APIs and JSON-based services.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience developing accessible applications compliant with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Familiarity with Git, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and modern software development practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience supporting Federal Government web applications.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience with Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS, Material Design, or other component libraries.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience with front-end testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.

  • ย ย ย ย ย  Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker, and cloud-hosted applications.
