Are mining jobs still a thing?

Mining jobs are still available and continue to be an important part of the industry, especially in roles such as miners, geologists, and equipment operators. These jobs often require safety training, certifications, and knowledge of heavy machinery and environmental regulations.

What are the typical challenges faced by professionals working in remote mining roles?

Professionals in remote mining roles often encounter challenges such as coordinating with on-site teams across different time zones, managing complex equipment remotely, and troubleshooting operational issues without direct physical access. In addition, maintaining strong communication and workflow integration can be more demanding when team members are dispersed. However, remote mining professionals are supported by advanced monitoring software, specialized technical support, and regular virtual meetings to foster collaboration. These roles offer unique opportunities to develop expertise with cutting-edge mining technology and can lead to career advancement in operations management or technical leadership positions.

What is remote mining?

Remote mining refers to mining operations conducted outside traditional on-site locations, often utilizing digital technology, remote-controlled equipment, and satellite communication. Workers may operate equipment or oversee processes from a distance, requiring skills in technology, safety protocols, and sometimes specialized certifications. This approach can improve safety and efficiency in mining activities.

What is a Remote Mining job?

A Remote Mining job involves overseeing, managing, or supporting mining operations from an off-site location using advanced technology, data analysis, and remote monitoring systems. These roles can include positions in automation, equipment operation, engineering, and data analytics. Remote mining professionals use software and communication tools to track mine productivity, ensure safety, and optimize operations without being physically present at the mine site. This helps reduce risks, improve efficiency, and lower costs. Many companies adopt remote mining to enhance worker safety and operational effectiveness.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Mining position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Mining, you need expertise in mining operations, geology, and remote monitoring technologies, usually supported by a degree in mining engineering or a related field. Familiarity with SCADA systems, tele-remote equipment, and safety protocols is essential, along with relevant mining certifications. Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-motivation skills are vital to effectively operate at a distance and collaborate with on-site teams. These abilities ensure efficient, safe, and successful mining operations from off-site locations.

What job in mining pays the most?

In mining, the highest-paying roles are often senior positions such as mine managers, engineering managers, and geologists with extensive experience. Specialized roles like mining engineers with advanced skills or certifications in safety and environmental management also tend to command higher salaries. These positions typically require relevant technical education, industry experience, and sometimes professional licenses or certifications.

What jobs make around $100,000 a year?

In remote mining roles, positions such as senior geologists, mining engineers, and project managers often earn around $100,000 annually, especially with experience and specialized skills. These roles typically require technical expertise, certifications, and knowledge of mining software and safety protocols.

Job description

About Us:

YipitData is the leading market research and analytics firm for the disruptive economy and most recently raised $475M from The Carlyle Group at a valuation of over $1B. Every day, our proprietary technology analyzes billions of alternative data points to uncover actionable insights across sectors like software, AI, cloud, e-commerce, ridesharing, and payments.

Our data and research teams transform raw data into strategic intelligence, delivering accurate, timely, and deeply contextualized analysis that our customers-ranging from the world's top investment funds to Fortune 500 companies-depend on to drive high-stakes decisions. From sourcing and licensing novel datasets to rigorous analysis and expert narrative framing, our teams ensure clients get not just data, but clarity and confidence.

We operate globally with offices in the US, APAC, and India. Our award-winning, people-centric culture-recognized by Inc. as a Best Workplace for three consecutive years-emphasizes transparency, ownership, and continuous mastery.

What It's Like to Work at YipitData:

YipitData isn't a place for coasting-it's a launchpad for ambitious, impact-driven professionals.

From day one, you'll take the lead on meaningful work, accelerate your growth, and gain exposure that shapes careers.

What It's Like to Work Here

  • Ownership is real, not aspirational. An analyst here can own a data product end-to-end - from methodology to client delivery - and present directly to the investors who depend on it. You won't spend months waiting for "meaningful work."
  • Growth is driven by impact, not tenure. Scope and responsibility expand as fast as you can demonstrate you're ready. We promote based on what you've done, not how long you've been here.
  • AI is a core working tool, not a side project. We're actively rebuilding how analytical work gets done - using AI agents, automation, and new tooling to fundamentally change what's possible. If you're excited about that, you'll thrive here.

If your ambition is matched by your work ethic-and you're hungry for a place where growth, impact, and ownership are the norm-YipitData might be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

About The Role:

You'll be joining the data feeds part of our organization, focusing on Kepler, a tractions feed that tracks over $45 billion in US consumer transactions across 600+ merchants and 200+ tickers.ย

Our data feeds help the world's top investors understand company performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics. Kepler serves both fundamental investors, who use our data to inform research and investment theses, and systematic funds, who integrate our feeds directly into quantitative models and trading strategies. This dual audience, along with daily feed delivery on a very short lag, means the bar for accuracy, consistency, and reliability is exceptionally high.

As a Data Analyst for Kepler,ย  you'll ramp quickly and build deep expertise in our third-party and proprietary datasets and methodologies. Working closely with customers, Product, Data Science, and Engineering, you'll take full ownership of the Kepler data - ensuring accuracy, improving methodologies, implementing QA frameworks, and prototyping enhancements that engineering will turn into robust, reliable data pipelines.

This is a role for someone who wants to go deep on hard analytical problems, takes pride in getting the details right, and is motivated by owning work that matters. You'll work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to deliver best-in-class outputs. You'll also be expected to bring ideas, not just execute on others'.

This is a remote-friendly opportunity that can sit in NYC (where our headquarter is located), one of our office hubs, or anywhere else in the US. However, depending upon where the remote work is performed, income could be subject to New York State tax withholding.ย

As a Feeds Data Analyst, you will:

  • Own Kepler data content end-to-end - driving product success by delivering best-in-class outputs with a focus on accuracy, and continuously increasing client value.ย
  • Work with massive amounts of data and develop deep expertise in our proprietary methods and techniques, building strong mental models that allow you to ensure data accuracy, identify methodology gaps, and derive key insights.
  • Tackle complex data problems using strong analytical judgment to refine methodologies, test new datasets, and solve challenges that require creative thinking - even when information is incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Use AI and tooling to drive meaningful leverage - increasing speed, reducing manual work, and automating portions of workflows. You'll build repeatable processes, maintain a high bar for correctness and quality, and validate AI-generated outputs.
  • Use AI to drive client-value - you will write prompts and run automated evaluation processes to ensure our client-facing Kepler Insight Agent is accurate and able to answer the questions our customers are asking.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Research, Engineering, and other teams - coordinating across functions to unblock work, align on best practices, and develop solutions that streamline workflows and optimize data processes.

Help our customers understand the data by handling high-complexity questions about anomalies and trends in the data that our first line of support can't handle.

You Are Likely To Succeed If:

  • You have 4-6+ years of experience in data analytics, with a background in fields like financial services, management consulting, data science, or high-growth technology - or another environment where you worked with complex data to drive high-stakes decisions
  • You have expert fluency in SQL and experience using Python or PySpark, including building reliable, reusable analysis workflows
  • You have a proven track record of quickly learning complex data methodologies and building strong mental models of how and why data works
  • You have led complex, ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders - scoping the approach, driving alignment, and delivering outcomes - with a strong bias toward action and ownership
  • You can clearly communicate complex concepts - including methodology, risks, and tradeoffs - and influence cross-functional partners to move decisions forward
  • You actively use AI tools and are excited about using AI to drive leverage - not just productivity, but fundamentally better and faster ways of working

What We Offer:

Our compensation package includes comprehensive benefits, perks, and a competitive salary:ย

  • We care about your personal life, and we mean it. We offer flexible work hours, flexible vacation, a generous 401K match, parental leave, team events, wellness budget, learning reimbursement, and more!
  • Your growth at YipitData is determined by the impact that you are making, not by tenure, unnecessary facetime, or office politics. Everyone at YipitData is empowered to learn, self-improve, and master their skills in an environment focused on ownership, respect, and trust. See more on our high-impact, high-opportunity work environment above!
  • The annual base compensation for this position is anticipated to be $165K-$185K. The final offer may be determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal team benchmarks.ย
  • The total compensation package includes a mix of base, bonus, equity, and benefits

This role may be performed fully remotely within the United States. Please note that our US headquarters are located in NYC. Income may be subject to New York State tax withholding.

Please note that for this position, we are not able to consider candidates who currently or in the future will require visa sponsorship.

We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
