Job description

Astronics Connectivity Systems and Certification (formerlyTelefonixPDT and Astronics Armstrong Aerospace) serves as the experienced, global market leader for in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) solutions for aircraft. As a systems certification provider, Astronics CSC has worked on over 100 projects for industry partners to upgrade commercial and business aircraft with new passenger power systems, IFEC navigation, communication and flight safety systems. Additionally, Astronics CSC offers proven IFEC hardware systems, flexible design platforms, high customer satisfaction, and long-term relationships with industry leaders to help make the connected aircraft a reality.

Location: Lake Zurich (fully remote) Summary Write and review engineering design and certification-related documents and reports, ensuring compliance to internal specifications and industry standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties as assigned.

Drive the timely development of product documentation, coordinating your efforts with subject matter experts in order to actively dig for, seek out, and organize technical information and inputs from the technical team. Develop documentation including qualification testing plans/procedures/reports, component maintenance manuals, and other regulatory documentation. Pro-actively provide status/progress updates to management and raise flags immediately when questions arise or when blocked from making progress.

Able to understand, analyze, and synthesize technical information (specifications, requirements, technical drawings) in order to identify when needed information is missing; ask well-formed questions, and recognize correctness/appropriateness of information. Willing and able to put in the effort to meet tight deadlines. Juggle multiple document assignments and large amounts of information, employing strong organization skills.

Produce draft documents, review/edit to eliminate errors, and submit to higher-level review clean of all formatting, grammar, and writing mechanics errors. Implement redline updates completely, without introducing new errors. Responsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements.

Submit, review and approve documentation for controlled release through Engineering Change Order (ECO) CM system. Take directions from both Project Engineers and Program Managers in addition Technical Documentation Supervisor. Report directions to Supervisor.

In rare cases, may interface with customers on conference calls. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (preferred) or Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or a related field if accompanied by technical aptitude, e.g., experience working directly with engineering development teams. Very high level of expertise with MS Word, especially in manipulating formatting and styles. Experience with MS Excel

Experience in a highly regulated industry (aerospace preferred, aviation, medical, military, transportation, etc.). Preferred: Previous Technical Writing experience. Familiarity with FAA and/or EASA regulatory documentation and standards is ideal but not required (e.g

RTCA/DO-160, Airbus ATSs and/or ABDs, Boeing specs, ARINC specs). Ability to read and write block diagrams or electrical schematics. Software engineering / coding skills.

The salary range specified is applicable to positions within the State of Illinois and reflects various factors considered in compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, individual skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and the specific needs of our business and organization. At Astronics CSC, it is uncommon for new hires to receive an offer at or near the top end of the range for their role.

Compensation decisions are made based on the unique facts and circumstances of each candidate. The current estimated annual salary range for this position is $80,000 to $92,000. In addition, you will be eligible for our Quarterly Incentive compensation bonus.
