Job Description:

Schnabel Engineering is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate cloud infrastructure and data platforms in Microsoft Azure. This role will play a key part in cloud resilience, security architecture, automation, and modern data and AI services. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on Azure and Entra ID experience, strong networking and security fundamentals, and experience operating in a production enterprise environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure with a focus on availability, security, and disaster recovery
  • Architect and support Azure Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including Azure Arc–enabled servers and hybrid workloads
  • Design and manage Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, routing, NSGs, firewalls, and DMZ architectures in Azure
  • Deploy, manage, and secure Azure Firewalls, VPNs, and connectivity to on-prem and third-party environments
  • Support and integrate AI Foundry and Azure AI services in alignment with organizational security policies
  • Implement and support Microsoft Fabric, including data ingestion, analytics, and governance
  • Design and enforce Azure security, data access controls, and compliance standards
  • Control Azure costs and create resource use efficiency
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep
  • Build, integrate, and secure APIs used by internal and external systems
  • Implement observability and operational health using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and alerting
  • Deploy and manage Azure servers (Windows and Linux), including patching, monitoring, and lifecycle management
  • Collaborate with security, application, and data teams to ensure cloud solutions meet operational and compliance requirements
  • Participate in architecture reviews, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or systems administration
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and supporting Microsoft Azure environments
  • Strong hands-on experience as an Azure Engineer or Azure Administrator in an enterprise environment
  • Azure certification (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Security Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect)
  • Proven experience with:
    • Azure Disaster Recovery and hybrid cloud
    • Azure networking, firewalls, and DMZ design
    • Azure AI services and AI Foundry
    • API design, deployment, and security
    • Azure Monitor and logging solutions
    • Azure virtual machines and server management
    • Infrastructure as Code using Bicep
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles, identity, and access control
  • Experience supporting production workloads with uptime, performance, and compliance requirements

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in regulated environments (government, defense, healthcare, finance)
  • Experience with hybrid identity (Entra ID / AD integration)
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Azure CLI)
  • Experience with most major container platforms
