Job description

Traveling/Remote Electrical Testing Technician
Field Operations | Nationwide Travel
Are you an experienced electrician who would like to use your brain more and your back less?
Are you a self-starting individual who thrives on challenges and enjoys working independently?
Do you like to see how things are made?
Do you enjoy travel and not being tied to an office or the same work environment every day?
Do you want to help build a successful company while also developing skills that will propel your career?
Who We Are
Guidant Power provides arc flash evaluations, infrared inspections, and electrical safety training to industrial, commercial, and healthcare clients nationwide. Since 2011, we have completed thousands of evaluations and inspections for well-known companies across healthcare, energy, and manufacturing.
Who We Need
We are looking for an Electrical Testing Technician to travel to customer sites and execute a full scope of electrical testing and inspections independently. This role is open to candidates with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience. The level at which you join will reflect your background and what you bring to the table.
Most of your time will be spent on-site alone, but you will be in constant communication with our team throughout each visit. You must be efficient, able to manage your time effectively, understand your limitations, and ask for help when necessary.
What You'll Do
  • Execute NFPA compliance testing, ATS testing, energized and de-energized switchboard inspections, infrared thermography, and power meter installation and reading
  • Operate the full range of electrical testing equipment on both live and de-energized electrical equipment
  • Read and follow one-line diagrams; make edits to create accurate as-built drawings
  • Manage field documentation: digital photography and photo organization, file upload to shared storage, data entry into spreadsheets and reporting tools
  • Apply arc flash labels to electrical equipment
  • Create reports for the inspections you perform
  • Manage the full customer relationship on-site -- build trust through professional conduct and identify opportunities to pass cross-sell leads to the sales team

What You Bring
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E; able to execute NFPA compliance testing independently in the field
  • Ability to operate the full range of electrical testing equipment on live and de-energized electrical equipment
  • Experience with energized and de-energized switchboard inspections, ATS testing, and power meter installation
  • Ability to read and follow one-line diagrams
  • Proficiency with standard field technology: digital photography, cloud file storage, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or technical degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel by air; must reside within one hour of a major airport

Additional Information
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk, stand, and crawl for extended periods
  • Must reside in the United States
  • We are not currently providing employment visa sponsorship
  • This is a 100% travel position

What We Offer
  • Compensation package commensurate with experience and skills
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Flexible working policy
  • Year-round work

We are seeking a teammate with the values, skills, and passion to build Guidant Power into the premier partner for electrical safety, reliability, and safety services. Even if you don't check all the boxes above, but you bring a unique ability to help us fill this important role, we'd love to hear from you.
