Job description

Job Title: Fuel Handling Electrical Design Engineer Location: Bellevue, WA Type: Contract Compensation: $69.00 - $115.00 per hour Work Model: Remote – offsite Hours: 40.0 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Perform the electrical design from requirements definition through final design release for fuel handling systems and equipment.
  • Develop design deliverables including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, cable schedules, grounding/bonding plans, instrumentation specifications, and interface control documents.
  • Ensure effective integration of electrical systems with mechanical designs and plant infrastructure.
  • Apply relevant codes and standards, including IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and nuclear-specific requirements such as IEEE 603, ASME NQA-1, and applicable NRC regulatory guidance.
  • Support procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities, including vendor coordination and design change management.
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, hazard analyses, and system readiness reviews.
  • Support testing and verification activities, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical design experience, with nuclear industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD tools and design documentation standards.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Experience with safety-related and non-safety-related system design under ASME NQA-1 quality programs.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and applicable nuclear codes and standards.
