What is a remote medical device?

A remote medical device is a piece of medical equipment that can monitor, diagnose, or treat patients from a distance, often using wireless or internet-connected technology. These devices enable healthcare providers to collect real-time data, track patient health, and even adjust treatments without requiring in-person visits. Common examples include remote heart monitors, wearable glucose meters, and telemedicine-enabled devices. Remote medical devices are increasingly used to improve patient outcomes, especially for those with chronic conditions or limited access to healthcare facilities.

What are remote medical device jobs?

Remote medical device jobs include roles in sales, advertising, programming, manufacturing, and testing of medical equipment. In this role, you may provide guidance and customer support to clinical customers, test the technology used in medical devices, or help fill out paperwork to meet regulatory reporting requirements. While medical device sales, IT, and customer service jobs can often be done remotely, there may be more opportunities for programmers and testers as the use of advanced technology and software becomes more common. Remote posts in the medical device field require computer and communication skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote medical device specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Medical Device Specialist, you need a solid background in biomedical engineering, healthcare technology, or a related discipline, often supported by relevant certifications or a degree. Familiarity with remote monitoring platforms, device integration software, and regulatory standards like FDA or ISO is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills help build trust and ensure effective support for healthcare providers and patients. These competencies are crucial for ensuring device safety, compliance, and optimal performance in remote healthcare environments.

What are some unique challenges faced by professionals working remotely in the medical device industry?

Professionals in remote medical device roles often encounter challenges such as ensuring effective communication with cross-functional teams, staying updated on regulatory changes, and managing product support or troubleshooting virtually. Since device demonstrations and technical support may need to be conducted online, strong digital communication skills are essential. Additionally, remote workers must be proactive in maintaining compliance and documentation standards, and they often collaborate closely with quality assurance, regulatory, and product development teams to address issues promptly and efficiently.

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Paid time off
  • Training & development

About the Role

Proactive Healthcare Communications provides inside sales support to leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies. As a Pharmaceutical Inside Sales Associate, you will spend the majority of your day on the phone calling physician offices on behalf of our clients. This is not a field role. Your office is your desk, your tool is the phone, and your scorecard is your dial count and connection rate. If that sounds like your idea of a great day, keep reading.
What You Will Do

  • Make 80-100 outbound calls per day to physician offices, targeting primary care, specialty, and other relevant practices on behalf of our pharmaceutical clients.
  • Reach prescribers, nurses, and office managers, delivering clear, concise product messaging that drives awareness and action.
  • Handle gatekeepers professionally and persistently, using proven techniques to reach the right contact.
  • Log all activity accurately in our CRM, tracking dials, connections, and outcomes in real time.
  • Meet or exceed daily dial targets and connection goals as set by your manager.
  • Stay current on product knowledge, messaging, and any relevant clinical updates for the products you represent.
What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of inside sales experience where high-volume phone outreach was your primary job function, not a secondary responsibility.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding daily call volume targets (50 or more calls per day minimum).
  • Experience calling on physician offices, medical practices, or healthcare providers as the primary call point.
  • Comfort navigating gatekeeper-heavy environments (front desk staff, medical assistants, nurses) to reach prescribers.
  • Strong CRM discipline: you log everything, consistently, without being asked.
  • Excellent phone presence: clear, confident, professional, and able to deliver a concise value message quickly.
  • High tolerance for rejection and the resilience to stay focused and energetic through a full day of calling.
Strongly Preferred:

  • Background in pharmaceutical or medical device sales calling on physician offices.
  • Familiarity with specialty prescribers (wound care, surgeons, podiatrists, or similar).
  • History of quota rankings or performance awards tied specifically to phone or inside sales results.
  • Experience in a sales role that was built from scratch, without a warm book of business to inherit.
This Role Is NOT a Good Fit If...

  • You are primarily looking for a role that leads to a field territory position.
  • You find high daily dial volumes draining rather than motivating.
  • You need a long, slow sales cycle with face-to-face meetings to close.
What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

  • Consistently hitting your daily dial target within the first two weeks.
  • Connecting with a meaningful percentage of targeted physician offices each week.
  • Delivering product messaging confidently and accurately within the first month.
Building a reliable daily routine with consistent CRM documentation.
Remote Inside Sales Associate Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • 2 years of experience in healthcare sales and customer service with a proven track record of success
  • Technical learning and agility
  • Motivated to excel within a competitive and collaborative environment
  • Skilled in executing outbound calls and email interactions with assigned targets
  • Strong prioritizing, multi-tasking and time management skills to meet sales goals and deadlines
Remote Inside Sales Associate Responsibilities:

  • Ability to handle high call volume
  • Utilize CRM software to accurately track interactions and manage relationships effectively
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills to address questions from healthcare providers
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for growing market share within the territory
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year inclusive of benefits
Benefits:

  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement
Supplemental Pay:
  • Bonus opportunities
Work Location: Remote
Benefits:
  • 401(k)
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
