Spek Diagnostics is an independent provider of anatomic pathology laboratory services based in the Boise area, with clientele throughout Idaho and surrounding states. We work closely with physicians and other healthcare providers to process and interpret clinical specimens such as biopsies and surgical excisions and report these results back to the clinician in a timely manner to facilitate diagnosis and treatment of disease. Spek Diagnostics consistently strives to improve the health outcomes of those we serve through our commitment to our patients, our community, and our craft. Overview

As a courier with Spek Diagnostics, you will serve as a liaison between the company and our clients by handling daily route operations, including face-to-face contact with medical office staff. You will also perform company errands, assist with fleet maintenance and grounds care, and assist with the specimen recording process.


Hours and Location

This part-time route, based in Pocatello, operates Monday through Friday and typically takes about one hour to complete. The responsibilities include collecting specimens from medical offices, packaging them for shipping, and delivering them to the FedEx Ship Center. Timeliness is essential, as the route needs to be completed around the same time each day. Currently, the route is expected to start at approximately 3:30 PM and finish around 4:30 PM, though daily variations may occur depending on the specific pickup locations and factors such as traffic or weather conditions.


Spek Diagnostics reimburses mileage at the IRS rate, so a reliable vehicle is requiredone capable of handling various weather conditions. It's recommended to inform your auto insurance provider of this job, and in addition, Spek Diagnostics provides supplemental coverage.

Requirements

In order to succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Valid driver's license
  • An understanding of and ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to use cellular phone for accepting and reporting route changes while en route
  • A motor vehicle record that meets department maximum acceptability standards regarding violations/accidents
  • A willingness to be flexible in job duties as described above on a day-to-day basis
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds to waist height and practice good body mechanics
