​Payment Specialist - Remote NC or SC
* Medical Office Billing Experience Required! *
Must be willing / able to commute to the office in Little River, SC during the first 90-day training period as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payment Specialist is responsible for accurately tracking, posting, and documenting all payments received in the Revenue Cycle process. This position also works closely with the Accounting Department to ensure accurate balancing at all times.
This position is remote. Must reside in SC or NC. Able to commute to office when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:
  • Ability to post payments according to remittance advice, posting all payments daily and by the end of the month.
  • Monitor reimbursement patterns and report issues to supervisor.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports when presented with data.
  • Monitor the status of denial trends and report issues to supervisor.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence in using judgment, according to the financial procedures/policies.
  • Ability to work effectively both in the office and remotely.
  • Ability to multi- task and prioritize job duties/responsibilities.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email functions.
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and report problems or errors in workflow to supervisor.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient account status.
  • Ability to work at top efficiency while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability and desire to work towards department goals in order to obtain the highest level of performance for the department.
  • Maintain attention to detail in all aspects of daily work.
  • Work with the Accounting Department to ensure proper balancing and ledger entries.
  • Cooperate with all internal and external audit requests.
  • Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures, reporting compliance issues.
  • Maintains quality results by following standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Enhances billing department and LRMC reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Strive to meet Billing Metrics and End of Month Goals within the payment posting process.
  • Assists in meeting other team goals by accurately posting to all processed claims.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • FQHC Billing Experience preferred.
  • Medical Billing Experience of 1 year preferred.
