As a Fuel Handling Equipment Field Service Technician, you will help support our FHE Outage and Maintenance Services team. You will provide support for nuclear fuel handling equipment or outage critical cranes. You will conduct the field service support at remote operating nuclear power plants and at local service center operations. You will use high technology service equipment in a manner reflecting Westinghouse's commitment to the highest levels of safety and quality. 

You will report to the Fuel Handling Equipment Outage and Maintenance Supervisor. This is a remote role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States but does require significant travel. Projects are 2-4 weeks but during Spring and Fall may be traveling 2 to 3 months at a time before going home to reset. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, set-up, and maintain fuel handling/outage critical crane equipment at customer sites worldwide.
  • Review operational procedures, maintenance procedures, and drawings in detail.
  • Provide support to engineering and training by performing activities such as equipment modifications, equipment setup and testing, mock-up preparation, process testing, and equipment and process qualifications. Document equipment performance issues during field implementation, and ensure corrective actions are complete before next scheduled use.
  • Participate in training programs to acquire and maintain certifications and keep current with technology and procedures.
  • Perform all assigned tasks with support, with a high degree of quality, and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines. Document all quality related issues.
  • Practice a "Safety First" attitude as an important part of all activities. Demonstrate good housekeeping practices in work areas. Maintain "Unescorted Access" status at nuclear power plant sites.
  • Develop, exercise and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers and other departments. Demonstrate good customer sensitivity.
  • Report to the service supervisor the status of field work progress, changes, problems, and mistakes on a daily or as need basis. You will require extensive travel by airplane and automobile (60%-70%) and will work with and around hazardous materials. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school graduate or the recognized equivalent plus 2 year, post high school degree/certificate or equivalent in experience. Specific knowledge and training in electrical, electronic, programmable logic controller, or mechanical components.
  • 2 or more years of experience where satisfactorily demonstrated evidence of mechanical, electrical and programmable logic controller knowledge and skill. Nuclear industry experience is beneficial.
  • This position is subject to the requirements of Westinghouse and customer security, unescorted access, and fitness for responsibility programs.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally carry/lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Individual must have full range of motion i.e. ability to reach, climb, kneel, squat, grasp, bend forwards and backwards, sit, and stand for 4 hours per day
  • We will ask you to pass a Westinghouse physical which includes a spirometer for the ability to wear a respirator.
