Job Overview
Partners with Senior, Strategic Planning to execute the development of all assigned projects to support internal corporate business groups in assessing and implementing strategic growth plans. This involves communication with cross-functional partners internal and external as well as an understanding of architectural floor plans and project budgets. Possessing cross functional skills in space planning and business acumen is preferred..
What You Will Do
  • Analyze store floor plans paired with financial data to develop Feasibility Order of Magnitude Plans, Conceptual Adjacency Plans, and analyses to meet capital criteria required by project.
  • Implement construction scope documentation into architectural floor plans related to budgeting exercises.
  • Develop presentation quality plans and analyses that adhere to all Macy's guidelines for distribution to Senior Management.
  • Prepare for project related meetings and be responsible for the documentation and follow-up of action items.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners including, but not limited to Real Estate, Area Research, Capital Planning, Senior Management, Stores Leadership, Operations for all required information to develop plans and analyses.
  • Oversee/collaborate with external partners including, but not limited to, Real Estate developers and project architects under supervision of Senior, Strategic Planning.
  • Possess understanding of and be able to interpret sales, trade area information, and future market trends and incorporate findings into assigned projects. Strong business acumen preferred.
  • Manage the completion of multiple projects simultaneously under supervision of Senior, Strategic Planning.

Skills You Will Need
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Architecture preferred; Minor in a Business program preferred but not required. 4 or more years of architectural or planning experience, with preferably 2 of these in a retail environment.
Technical Proficiencies: Solid proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite specifically Excel are required.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills are imperative. Ability to conduct successful meetings on site, via webinar, and/or via phone. Ability to read, write, and interpret informational documents such as reports.
Problem Solving: Ability to address challenges and provide alternatives with a solution driven mind-set. Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to arrive at best outcome. Ability to collaborate and work as a part of a team.
Project Management: Self-starter who is organized, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential to accuracy of data analyses and coordination with architectural floor plans.
