Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) - Kirtland Airforce Base The Systems Engineering Technologies Department is charged with identifying, developing and applying new technologies that can address the Government's most challenging Systems Engineering problems. This is an opportunity for early career engineers who are highly motivated, innovative and self-directed. This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand one’s systems architecture, modeling and analytical skills. Specific areas of interest include Model Based Engineering (MBSE, MDA, MDD, MDE), Systems of Systems, architecture modeling, analysis of complex systems, and decision support. This position of Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) is in-office on base in Albuquerque, New Mexico and requires working on Kirtland AF base with limited remote work. Day to day responsibilities
* Modeling architectures of complex systems using standards-based languages (ex. SysML).
* Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques; exploring large tradespaces.
* Articulating major uncertainties associated with systems architectures, defining risks and opportunities associated with the uncertainties.
* Supporting requirements management, interface management and architecture change management processes.
* Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for the US Government agencies.
Skills/Education/Certification Required:
* Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US DoD clearance within first year of employment.
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or relevant technical discipline.
* 1-3 years’ experience with product development or integration projects.
* Experience developing and documenting applications design using Unified Modeling Language (UML) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
Preferred:
* Hands-on experience (including labs, internships) in Model Based Engineering to include MBE, MBSE, MDA, MDD, MDE.
* Active DoD clearance.
* Demonstrated programming experience in object-oriented programming (e.g. Java, C# or C++).
* Experience authoring database queries using SQL
* Referenceable project-based work experience in a team environment.
* Demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communications skills for developing and delivering technical presentations.
* Ability to take your current skills and experience and transform them to apply to the military/defense domain.
Beneficial: * Experience with multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level and/or operational-level).
* Familiarity with a Model-Based Systems and Software Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo Systems Modeler or Rational Rhapsody.
* Proficiency in one or more of the programming languages for quantitative analyses (ex. Mathematica, Python, R).
* Experience working with and understanding XML and XSD files.
* Knowledge of Analysis of Alternatives, Verification and Validation, Design of Experiments and data analytics.
* Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C, Go, Ruby, Kotlin.
