Who you are
Trilogy Innovations is seeking experienced Senior Software Developers to join our team in support of a high-impact federal modernization initiative. This is a fully remote opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-critical IT systems that serve real users at a national level.
You'll collaborate with a talented, distributed engineering team and play a key role in shaping the future of complex government technology environments. On-Call Expectations
To support critical system needs, this role participates in a rotating on-call schedule for one week out of every four. During your on-call week, you'll be part of a responsive support team that helps ensure system reliability and continuity.
  • Acknowledge on-call contacts (phone, text, or email) within 15 minutes
  • Remain within reasonable access to your secure work laptop while on call
  • Log in and begin assessing or troubleshooting requests within 60 minutes of notification

The on-call rotation is structured to provide balance while ensuring our federal partners receive timely, dependable support when it matters most.
What you will do:
  • Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
  • Migrate and modernize all current-system functionality from legacy mainframe systems into cloud-native microservices operating within AWS GovCloud.
  • Participate in the operation and support of an enterprise-scale production system, including identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues in collaboration with the ART.
  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.
  • Analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.
  • Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Migrate and modernize all current-system functionality from legacy mainframe systems into cloud-native microservices operating within AWS GovCloud.

What you bring
We require:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 8 years of work experience or associate's degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience.
  • Active Tier 3 Secret clearance.
  • Experience working within an Agile framework, actively contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Cl/CD Pipeline.
  • 5+ years' experience with Java Object-Oriented Programming.
  • 5+ years' experience with Kubernetes and containers; automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native architecture within secure, regulated environments.
  • Experience designing and supporting event-driven architectures with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with three or more of the following:
    • Apache Kafka
    • Pub/Sub (Publish, subscribe)
    • Streaming
    • Event sources
    • Running GitOps (GitLab, Git, Bitbucket, ArgoCD, Tecton, etc.) within version control tools.
    • Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) for version control management.
    • Ability for on-call support. These positions can expect to be on the on-call list one (1) week out of every four (4) weeks.
  • Proficiency with Java Object-Oriented Programming
  • Experience with Cloud-native architecture
    • Event-driven architecture; streaming (preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes; automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications
  • Experience running GitOps (GitLab, Bitbucket, ArgoCD, Tecton, etc.)
  • Experience with large scale systems

High-level objects include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Migrate all current-system functionality from the mainframes and operate within a cloud-based environment (AWS GovCloud)
  • Incorporate modern name search capabilities.
  • Expand image handling to accept larger files and support additional file formats, such as PDF.
  • Transition investigative search to Elasticsearch, providing a faster response and report creation time for law enforcement.
  • Build new services to follow microservices architecture and run within containers using the OpenShift platform.
  • Transition database functionality from IBM DB2 to the appropriate cloud data store.
  • Update NIEM schemas and IEPDs to allow agencies to use updated functionality and speed up the dot-delimited message format retirement.

Work environment: Remote with occasional travel as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range: $140,000 - $144,000
