Now hiring passionate Reading, Writing, and Literacy Tutors for our Schaumburg and Lake Zurich, IL Sylvan Learning Centers! We offer in-person, hybrid, and remote tutoring options for students in grades K–3 who need help with reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar, vocabulary, and literacy development.

About the Role

As a Sylvan Tutor, you’ll guide students through personalized reading and writing programs that build confidence and improve academic performance. Our proven Sylvan Method® ensures every student learns at their own pace — and you’ll never have to create lesson plans or grade papers.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging, small-group or one-on-one instruction in reading, writing, and literacy
  • Follow Sylvan’s structured, evidence-based curriculum (training provided)
  • Support students with phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills
  • Arrive 15 minutes before your first session; wrap up 10 minutes after your last
  • Collaborate with a friendly team that cares about student success

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you have a current or expired state teaching certificate.

Preferred

  • Tutoring or teaching experience (school, private, or college level)
  • Knowledge of phonics, reading comprehension strategies, and writing instruction
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
