Director of Sales, Branded Business

Algro International LLC

Irvine, CA • On-site, Remote

Full-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

Algro International LLC is a market leader in private label rice and grains and now, we're building the future of better-for-you food brands.

One of our flagship brands is Simply So, a disruptive frozen rice brand designed for today's busy, health-conscious consumer. We make clean, convenient frozen rice blends that taste like they were made at home because they kind of are. Our unique setup gives us the best of both worlds: startup speed and supply chain strength. We're already in-market and picking up traction.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Dircetor of Sales. This is a high-impact role for a results-driven sales leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and knows how to take emerging brands to the next level.

Position Overview

The Director of Sales, Branded Businesses will lead and execute sales strategies across Algro's portfolio of CPG brands. This role will focus on driving distribution, velocity, and revenue growth across key retail channels, while working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and leadership.

We're looking for someone who combines proven CPG success with a modern, agile mindset—someone who understands today's consumer, leverages data and insights, and isn't afraid to challenge conventional playbooks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Algro's overall sales strategy across branded CPG portfolio (frozen, dry, and ethnic categories)
  • Drive new business development and expand distribution across key accounts (natural/specialty, conventional, club, mass, and online retailers)
  • Build and manage relationships with buyers, brokers, and distributor partners
  • Lead sales planning, forecasting, and pipeline management
  • Identify growth opportunities through data, trends, and competitive insights
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing to align on promotions, launches, and retail execution
  • Manage and optimize broker networks and external partners
  • Track performance against KPIs, ensuring strong velocity, profitability, and ROI
  • Support innovation launches and go-to-market strategies for new products
  • Bring creative, "outside-the-box" thinking to unlock new channels and growth avenues

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of CPG sales experience, with a strong focus on emerging or high-growth brands
  • Proven track record of scaling distribution and driving revenue growth in retail
  • Strong relationships across key retailers and/or distributors (UNFI, KeHE, major grocery, club, etc.)
  • Highly analytical and data-driven; comfortable using insights to inform decisions
  • Experience working in fast-paced, entrepreneurial or start-up environments
  • Ability to execute within a defined strategy while also contributing to its evolution
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter with high energy, adaptability, and a bias for action

What We're Looking For

  • A builder mindset—someone who has helped grow brands, not just maintain them
  • Curious, adaptable, and in tune with modern CPG trends and consumer behavior
  • Willing to challenge outdated approaches and bring fresh thinking
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and operating with agility
  • Motivated by impact, ownership, and growth

Location

  • Hybrid role with preference for candidates based near Irvine, CA, though remote candidates will also be considered.
