Seeking a dynamic individual and an effective leader, who will report directly to the Associate Director Commodity Management for Distributed Products, to work within a highly matrixed group in leading the overall DP Commodity team within the RTX Supply Chain Management organization.

This job will manage all core commodity management activities for distributed products for RTX. The Senior Commodity Manager should demonstrate an advanced understanding of the aerospace business and play a key role in interfacing with the RTX internal and external customers to lead, coordinate, and implement strategic activities. This leader represents and works directly with upper management.  The highly motivated team player filling this position will have the opportunity to network with program management, module centers, spares management, executive management and the external supply base at large.

What You Will Do:

  • Be responsible for the management of the distributed products commodity for assigned business units.

  • Act as point of escalation in the event of any Supplier or Internal issues.

  • Responsible for Managing assigned Supply Chain team.

  • Lead key supplier contract and pricing negotiations.  Bring contracts and sourcing projects through the gated Passport standard work.

  • Drive cost reduction projects through the analysis of spend data, market conditions, program development, should cost estimation, volume aggregation etc.

  • Identify savings opportunities and lead projects with support from cross-functional team.

  • Lead discussions and negotiations with suppliers as it relates to cost savings opportunities, performance improvements and Long Term Agreements (LTA’s).

  • Create annual Strategic Sourcing Review Board (SSRB) strategy for your commodity and socialize with peers and senior management. 

  • Work closely with Contract Managers in order to analyze and identify gaps in existing contracts and work to strengthen terms.

  • Ensuring coordination and alignment with the overall objectives and activities of strategies for the same commodities.

  • Responsible for sweeping spot buys onto long term agreements.

  • Optimize market share for dual source products.

  • Act as Strategic Business Unit focal for various KPI reviews.

  • Identify saving opportunities (negotiations, transitions, value engineering projects, etc.) and deliver savings to the business.

  • Ensure accurate reporting of all savings/price increases for their area of responsibility.

  • Work with key stakeholders including Supply Chain Directors, Design Engineers, Program Directors and Product Introduction Management to coordinate sourcing decisions on new programs.

  • Monitor current supplier market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identify supply/demand challenges.

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic commodity plans.

  • Identify opportunities for developing partnerships with Strategic suppliers and lead projects to improve efficiencies within supply base through the combined efforts of RTX and Strategic suppliers.

  • Ability to travel requirement:  20%.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in Operations/Supply Chain/Contracts Management/Business Development or other Business related field.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Aerospace product knowledge (processes, manufacturing techniques, quality requirements).

  • Prior team leadership experience or working in a highly matrixed organization.

  • Supply Chain systems experience with SAP,  and analytical experience is highly preferred.

  • Proficiency and experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint and databases is also preferred.

  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Project management preferred.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
