Job description

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for a Senior NDT Level III Inspector / Engineer.

Position Purpose:

AVTECH Global is seeking a highly skilled and certified ASNT/NAS-410 NDT Level III Inspector to support critical aerospace and defense programs. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical authority in the development of Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) manuals and procedures. In this role, you will bridge the gap between commercial engineering standards and military operations, ensuring that tailored NDI procedures are executable by military technicians while remaining technically equivalent to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) baseline. Your expertise will directly guarantee that the structural integrity and certification basis of the supported aircraft are strictly maintained.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the final technical sign-off for newly developed or digitized NDI procedures across multiple methods (e.g., Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, X-Ray, Computed Radiography, and Bond Testing).
  • Author and approve formal technical substantiation documents demonstrating that tailored DoD/military procedures meet or exceed the engineering tolerances of the commercial OEM technical data.
  • Collaborate directly with Technical Writers and engineers to ensure procedures correctly integrate military technical standards (e.g., general T.O. guidelines) and provide step-by-step instructions for standardized DoD inspection equipment.
  • Travel to military installations, maintenance depots, and operational bases to attend and facilitate initial process verification and validation events.
  • Gather customer and end-user feedback during physical verifications, providing technical recommendations and manual revisions to resolve operational discrepancies.
  • Handle all project data, engineering drawings, and technical specifications in strict accordance with DoD Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) safeguarding regulations.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

As an ideal candidate to join the AVTECH team, you will meet the following:

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or technical curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
    • 7+ years prior aerospace experience (Commercial, DOD Department of Defense) in NDT and quality systems related to working with composites and metals in manufacturing, repair and inspection of aircraft.

    Other Requirements:

    • Active ASNT or NAS-410 Level III Certification required in all five principal aircraft NDT methods (ASNT Level III certification preferred in minimum 2 methods with others supported over time).
    • Capable of operating data analysis and computer software for NDT testing.
    • Ability to pass a Tier 1 (minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts. Existing security clearance is preferred.

    Location / Travel:

This is a REMOTE position with no relocation requirement. Travel to USAF bases will be required once per month (minimum) for 3-4 days at a time. All travel costs are covered (including, flights, hotel, rental car, GSA per diem, etc.). Additionally, the travel locations/frequency are subject to change (with an advanced notice) depending on where coverage is needed.

    Benefits:

    • coverage of up to one-half of employee's medical insurance premium for a base plan
    • 401(k) with matching
    • paid time off

    This is a salary position.
