Sr Application Engineer Machine Tool Industry
Location - Remote within Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, or Indiana
Job Summary
This position supports the team or district with technical tooling and all product application solutions. A Senior Application Engineer serves as a valuable resource and a leader within the sales territory. This position is more mature in experience and expertise, as well as thoroughly knowledgeable in the metal cutting industry; as such, the incumbent is expected to carry customer accounts, act as a trainer/mentor for a less experienced team members, and step up as interim leader when needed.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, sales, etc) for project management
  • Understand customers' business, technology, and product requirements and appropriately match Kennametal tooling solutions, products and services to meet customer needs
  • Exceed customer expectations relative to Kennametal service levels and technical know-how and value-added services
  • Perform sales forecasting, account planning and other administrative tasks that will profitably grow the business
  • Understand and utilize company resources
  • Show continuous improvements in technical, product and selling skills Maintain high impact customer relationships with current accounts to expand market share

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent working experience in industry
  • 5 to 7 plus years of successful field or manufacturing experience in the metal cutting industry;
  • Experience working with OEM machine tool builders preferred
  • Experience working in an extensive technical manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in identifying and assessing customer needs
  • Competent in understanding and communicating all products and technical information
  • Able to understand and communicate complex contract conditions
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Well developed interpersonal skills enabling teamwork and clear communication
  • Valid driver's license
