What is remote management consulting?

Remote management consulting involves providing expert advice to organizations on business strategy, operations, and management practices, all delivered virtually rather than in-person. Consultants work with clients through online meetings, digital collaboration tools, and remote project management platforms. This approach allows companies to access global expertise, reduce travel costs, and maintain flexibility, while still benefiting from tailored solutions to their business challenges.

What are remote management consulting jobs?

In remote management consulting positions, your job is to work from home to recommend strategies for your client's business. As part of this, you may use virtual office software to coordinate with the company's employees, help evaluate the company's performance, look for ways to improve their business, and otherwise serve as a consultant on any topic with which they need help. Many remote management consultants only consult on particular topics. For example, you may provide advice on information management, finances, or employee management and motivation techniques. Remote management consultants must also keep up with new developments in their industry, maintain relationships with previous clients, and participate in meetings with company executives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote management consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Management Consultant, you need strong analytical abilities, business acumen, and a background in management or consulting, often supported by a relevant degree or MBA. Proficiency with virtual collaboration tools, project management software like Asana or Trello, and data analysis platforms such as Excel or Tableau is essential. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for building client relationships and managing projects remotely. These skills enable consultants to deliver impactful solutions, maintain client trust, and ensure effective outcomes in a virtual environment.

How do remote management consultants typically collaborate with clients and team members across different time zones?

Remote management consultants often work with both clients and colleagues who are located around the world. To ensure effective collaboration, they use digital communication tools such as video conferencing, project management software, and shared document platforms. Flexibility with scheduling is important, as meetings may need to be held outside of standard business hours to accommodate different time zones. Clear communication, proactive updates, and well-defined project milestones help keep everyone aligned and projects on track despite geographic distances.

Job description

Who We Are and Why Join Us
At OnMed our purpose is simple but powerful...to improve the quality of life and sense of well-being in our communities by bringing access to healthcare to everyone, everywhere. Our path to everywhere has already begun, with our innovative CareStation, a small but mighty, Clinic-in-a-Box, bringing #healthcareaccess anywhere with an outlet to plug it in. Poised to become a key component in America's public health infrastructure, the OnMed CareStation is the only tech-enabled, human-led, hybrid care solution that combines the comprehensive experience, trust and outcomes of a clinic, with the rapid scalability of virtual care.
At OnMed, every role, every day, is directly impacting the communities we serve. You'll join a high-performing purpose-driven team, innovating to break down the barriers that keep people from the care they need.
This is not just a job...it's a movement to bring access to healthcare where and when people need it most. It's healthcare that shows up.
Who You Are
You're a player-coach who has built or led impact-facing functions in environments where the work mattered beyond the contract - in management consulting, nonprofit strategy, or public-sector and impact-program leadership. You excel at managing the relationships and helping partners and organizations strategize and execute on their goals.
Role's Responsibilities
  • Own and manage of a large region of Partners who have Care Stations in terms of outcomes and renewals
  • Develops strategy for their region and manages the handful of critical senior relationships and accounts in their region
  • Will lead a team of Partner Impact Managers who will own the day-to-day and the individual on the ground relationships
  • Influence and act on executive-level escalations with senior partner stakeholders
  • Own the overall health of the Partner Impact region, holding the team accountable to outcomes
  • Engage directly with senior stakeholders at strategic partner organizations such as health system executives, government program leads, employer benefits leaders to drive the right outcomes
  • Build the discipline of data-backed storytelling into how the Partner Impact team reports and presents insights
  • Drive cross-functional alignment with Product, Clinical, Sales, and Operations to ensure partner needs shape OnMed's roadmap, not the other way around
  • Translate partner and community outcomes into a coherent impact narrative for OnMed's board, investors, and public stakeholders
  • Recruit and onboard mission-aligned talent into the Partner Impact team
  • Perform other related role's responsibilities as assigned

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Track record of building or significantly scaling a partner- or impact-facing function, not just managing within one
  • Deep experience in environments where mission and rigor coexist - nonprofit or healthcare consulting, public-sector transformation, social-impact programs, or purpose-driven healthtech
  • Ability to hold a room of health system executives and a room of community health workers with equal credibility
  • Systems thinker who identifies patterns across a portfolio and builds lasting solutions rather than one-off fixes
  • Build the discipline of data-backed storytelling into how the Partner Impact team reports, presents, and pitches
  • A people leader who develops others by raising the bar, not lowering expectations
  • Exceptional communicator - writes with precision, presents with authority, listens with intent

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Public Health, Public Policy, or Business Administration preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy or management consulting in healthcare settings, or public-sector/impact-program leadership, including at least 3 years leading a team
  • Led client-facing or partner-facing work at a consulting firm serving nonprofits, government, or public health clients
  • Built community health, population health, or health equity programs at scale
  • Experience translating complex data for senior executives

Benefits
This is an exciting and vibrant time to join OnMed for our next growth phase. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with a high-performing team, driven by our shared momentum and the meaningful impact we're creating together. OnMed provides a competitive salary and benefits package, including unlimited PTO and paid holidays.
The base salary for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 commensurate with the candidate's experience and location; plus discretionary annual bonus.
OnMed is a proud equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, disability, age, marital status, veteran status, or any other category protected by law.
