Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
SAPA is seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Head of Fundraising to lead the
organization's fundraising strategy and revenue growth. This leadership role is responsible for
developing and executing comprehensive fundraising initiatives that expand donor engagement,
increase philanthropic support, and strengthen SAPA's financial sustainability.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of securing major gifts, building donor
relationships, managing fundraising teams, and utilizing Salesforce to drive fundraising
performance and donor stewardship. This individual will play a critical role in helping SAPA
scale its humanitarian impact during a time of unprecedented need in Sudan.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
    1. Develop and execute SAPA's annual and multi-year fundraising strategy in USA.
    2. Identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundations, grants, sponsorships, and recurring donor programs.
    3. Establish fundraising goals, budgets, and key performance indicators.
    4. Provide leadership and mentorship to fundraising staff, volunteers, and committees.
    5. Collaborate closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to advance fundraising priorities.
    6. Present fundraising performance reports and strategic recommendations to leadership.
  2. Major Gifts & Donor Development
    1. Build and manage a portfolio of major donors and high-capacity prospects, working closely with Donorcare Manager
    2. Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for major gifts.
    3. Conduct donor meetings, presentations, and relationship-building activities.
    4. Create personalized engagement plans for key donors and supporters.
    5. Increase donor retention, recurring giving, and lifetime donor value.
    6. Support leadership and board members in donor engagement efforts. Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships
    7. Identify and secure corporate sponsorships and strategic partnerships.
    8. Develop customized sponsorship packages and partnership proposals.
    9. Manage relationships with corporate partners and philanthropic organizations.
    10. Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to maximize partner visibility and engagement.
  3. Salesforce & Fundraising Operations
    1. Utilize Salesforce to track donor engagement, fundraising pipelines, and campaign performance.
    2. Develop fundraising dashboards, reports, and performance analytics.
    3. Ensure donor data accuracy and integrity.
    4. Analyze fundraising trends and provide recommendations for growth.
    5. Implement fundraising best practices and process improvements.
  4. Campaigns & Special Events
    1. Lead annual giving campaigns, emergency appeals, peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, and special fundraising events.
    2. Develop strategies for digital fundraising and online donor acquisition.
    3. Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to create compelling fundraising messaging.
    4. Evaluate campaign performance and implement optimization strategies.
  5. Communications & Stewardship
    1. Ensure donors receive meaningful updates regarding the impact of their contributions.
    2. Develop stewardship programs that strengthen donor loyalty and engagement.
    3. Collaborate with communications teams to produce donor reports, impact stories, newsletters, and fundraising materials.
    4. Promote a culture of donor-centered fundraising throughout the organization.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5–10 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts and managing fundraising programs.
  • Experience developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce, including donor management and reporting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Willingness to work evenings/ weekends as required for events and fundraising activities


Preferred

  • Experience within humanitarian, healthcare, international development, or nonprofit
    sectors.
  • Salesforce Administrator, NPSP, or Nonprofit Cloud experience.
  • Fluent in Arabic
  • Experience managing fundraising teams.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and institutional fundraising.
  • Experience working with volunteer leadership and nonprofit boards
