Senior Power BI Developer

Location: Remote (U.S. preferred)
Experience Level: 5-7+ years

About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that drive business insights and strategic decision-making. You'll work with data from Snowflake and other cloud sources, collaborating with data engineers and ETL teams to transform raw data into clear, impactful visualizations. This role involves direct stakeholder engagement to gather requirements and deliver analytics solutions that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that support business operations and meet stakeholder needs
  • Connect to Snowflake and other cloud data sources, leveraging ETL pipeline outputs for optimized reporting
  • Design efficient data models optimized for performance, usability, and scalability
  • Gather business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into actionable reports and visualizations
  • Create and optimize DAX calculations and Power Query (M) transformations for performance
  • Collaborate with data engineers and ETL developers to ensure accurate, high-quality, and accessible data sources
  • Support data governance, documentation, and reporting standards
  • Manage workload independently and prioritize deliverables effectively
  • Work within Agile environments using tools like Azure DevOps Boards
Required Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on experience as a Power BI Developer
  • Proven expertise in Power BI report generation, including DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI Service
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and visualization best practices
  • Proficient in SQL and experience working with cloud data sources such as Snowflake
  • Experience collaborating with ETL or data engineering teams (e.g., dbt, Fivetran, Matillion, Informatica)
  • Strong business analysis skills: requirements gathering, stakeholder communication, and translating business needs into dashboards
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
  • Ability to work effectively during U.S. business hours (West Coast hours for certain roles)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Power BI Expert Certification (or ability to achieve within 6 months)
  • Experience with federal government reporting projects
  • Background in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation analytics
  • Experience in Agile or fast-paced delivery environments using Azure DevOps Boards
  • Familiarity with Snowflake performance tuning and best practices
  • Knowledge of other BI platforms (Tableau, Qlik, Looker)
  • Experience working with Keboola
