BI Engineer / Business Intelligence Engineer

About the Role

We are working with a client seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Engineer for a full-time, direct hire opportunity. This is a fully remote position open to candidates across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions including dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that support decision-making across the organization
  • Build and optimize data models, data marts, and semantic layers to support self-service analytics
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into the BI environment
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reporting and analytics outputs
  • Manage and administer BI platforms and tools across the organization
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing reports, dashboards, and data processes
  • Document data definitions, business logic, data lineage, and reporting standards
  • Train and support business users in self-service reporting capabilities
  • Partner with data engineering and IT teams to ensure the data infrastructure supports analytics needs

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a business intelligence, data analytics, or reporting engineering role
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience querying large, complex datasets
  • Hands-on experience with one or more major BI platforms — Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar
  • Experience with data modeling concepts — star schema, snowflake schema, dimensional modeling
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline development
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses — Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Azure Synapse
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills — ability to translate complex data into clear business insights
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling
  • Familiarity with Python or R for advanced analytics and automation
  • Experience with real-time or near-real-time reporting solutions
  • Knowledge of data governance, data catalog, and metadata management practices

Compensation
