The Role: Sr. Commissioning Program Manager

As the Sr. Commissioning Program Manager, you lead commissioning strategy and execution across data center projects within your region. You are accountable for ensuring systems are tested, validated, and delivered in alignment with Switch program standards and client expectations.

This role serves as the commissioning subject matter expert and drives alignment across Construction, Design, Quality Control, Integration, and Operations teams. You oversee third-party commissioning partners and ensure safe, accurate, and timely system turnover in mission-critical environments.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Assess new data center designs for commissionability and operational risk.

  • Develop commissioning scopes of work and RFPs for third-party commissioning agents.

  • Support contracting and onboarding of commissioning partners.

  • Oversee third-party commissioning agents to ensure compliance with Switch standards.

  • Develop and review commissioning schedules, test scripts, and execution plans.

  • Partner with Construction, Design, QC, and Integration teams to align build and testing strategies.

  • Oversee commissioning for fit-outs, retrofits, and multi-site deployments.

  • Enforce customer performance requirements during commissioning and turnover.

  • Identify commissioning risks early and drive resolution prior to system handoff.

  • Provide routine reporting, documentation review, and validation of test results.

  • Mentor team members and support recruiting as the program expands.

  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • You apply strong technical judgment in mission-critical environments.

  • You lead through influence across cross-functional teams.

  • You communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners.

  • You take ownership of timelines, quality standards, and client commitments.

  • You remain effective in active construction and live operating environments.

  • You manage multiple complex projects without losing visibility.

  • You are willing to be in the field to validate work firsthand.

What Youโ€™ll Bring

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, substations, or power generation.

  • Direct experience in commissioning, design, construction, or operations of critical infrastructure.

  • Experience overseeing third-party contractors or commissioning agents.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in data centers.

  • Familiarity with EPMS, SCADA, or BMS platforms.

  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and safety standards.

Preferred

  • Industry-related degree or certifications.

  • Experience delivering fast-track design-build projects or large-scale infrastructure upgrades.

If you meet most of these qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
